Marathon Weekend 2017!

Does no one run with their phone in their pocket? I find Nike shorts have deep enough pockets to hold my Note 3 (which is a bigger phone too), so I don't bother with a band or anything like that.

Yes that's what I do, I specifically buy running shorts with zipper pockets so I am not stressing about it falling out. I find it works for me and don't notice it bouncing around.

That's interesting, I've never had that problem. Just lucky, I guess. I can't imagine having to old onto a phone for longer races. I won't even use handheld water bottles. They drive me crazy.

I used to put my phone in one of those small but stretchy spibelts,I had to take the cover of it for it to fit but eventually I realized that wasnt good on many points,no cover and it falls it breaks, many times when I put it in the spibelt it would accidentally end up in airplane mode or some weird setting and putting it in the spibelt just meant I had to constantly take it in and out which got annoying and in the end I would just endup running with it which is what I do now, with the cover on.An armband just isn't comfortable for me and running with a phone in your pocket doesn't sound pleasant either, too much bouncing up and down.

Do any InkNBurn fans use the pocket of their capris for their phone? The pocket seems like a great idea but I imagine my phone popping right out on the run.

I could never find any shorts with pockets big enough to hold my iphone. So I bought a Running Buddy. Basically the same thing as the Roo pouch but found that it couldn't hold the weight without pulling my shorts down. Then I heard about Sparkle Skirts with all their pockets. Tried one and I am never going back. Those things have serious storage in them! Two 5x5 pockets on the legs of the compression shorts and a 12" zipper pocket in the waist (or you can turn it around and wear it on the back). I never even feel my phone in my pocket! I have had a couple of panic moments where I thought I lost my phone because you really can't feel it! And they just now came out with a men's line, Spare Parts, that have the compression undershorts with the huge pockets under regular shorts. Not sure how many they have out yet but I know they have more colors planned. :)

ETA: They also make women's compression shorts and capris with all the pockets if you aren't into skirts.

I run with my phone in my SparkleSkirts pocket, but that doesn't work as well for men. :) As @Dis5150 said, they have ample room (I have a 6s Plus - so it's huge) and it fits easily with the case.

My 6s Plus will fit without a case, but it's a stretch to get it in. I've put Dh's 6s in there though and it fits easily. I've worried a bit about it since the end of it sticks out just a bit, but I've done several runs with it in there and it never moves.

My husband had a friend pick up a pair of the new Sparkle men's shorts. He took them for a run, but there needs to be some changes made if they are going to work well for most men I suspect. He loved the compression shorts in terms of how they stayed put. Loved the pockets. However, they stitched them exactly like the compression shorts are for the skirts. So, there's a single seam that runs up the center of the crotch area. That created some opportunity for chaffing if you know what I mean. They need to modify it so stitching is more like men's undergarments which are typically stitched with two seams. Secondly, he really disliked the waistband. It is the same waistband design that the skirts have, so a very thin elastic waist with that gusset (I guess that's what it's called) to hold the large center pocket. So, the effect is a bit feminine he felt and he didn't like the small elastic. They basically look like they just took a skirt pattern and added a bit extra fabric to turn the skirt into shorts. I don't think most men will like the design. It's a shame though because he LOVED the compression fabric.

It's designed to fit an iPhone 6/6S they're ultra-runner tested so you should be good to go!! :)

I could never run with anything in my pocket. It would bang around and that would bug me to no end.

Not in a Sparkle Skirt shorts pocket - it doesn't even move. :)

Ya, I haven't had the issue either (in my Nike shorts, not sure I'm up for trying the Sparkle Skirt), though maybe it's because the Note 3 is so big and heavy it just doesn't bounce. I feel like an arm band would drive me absolutely nuts, and I know holding it would. To each their own though, if people didn't like them they wouldn't be making them.

Pretty sure that W2GB is a guy, so...

Men's running shorts with pockets - the pockets are either tiny pockets meant for keys (would not hold a phone), or huge floppy pockets like you would find in any other loose shorts.

Yeah I realized that after I posted but figured the info might be helpful to someone else! :)

My husband wears looser Nike shorts with a zipper pocket. We did a lot of testing with his phone at the store to see what would work.

Thanks to our runDisney habits of late, I am now obsessed with finding running gear with pockets. Most brands just don't have them.

I am a guy and I didn't take offense to it. I have actually joked with myself that if I end up running the marathon in 2017 (I am still on the fence about running it this year. I think I rejoined this thread in hopes of all the talk making want to sign up even more) I may run in a skirt just to get outside of my comfort zone because I am normally pretty boring of a person. Do they have them big enough for a 220 lb guy though?

Sign up, do it!! No pressure or anything... It is only 26.2 miles filled with everything Disney! :)

I will keep it in mind if I end up registering.

I don't need pressure. I want to do it in the worst way. I just feel like I should save the money. My ankle has also been hurting since January when I did the marathon. I am going to call the doctor hopefully tomorrow and have it checked out. I don't want to register and then be out of commission for any length of time. But I am leaning toward signing up for Goofy if it is still open when I decide to pull the trigger. I had so much fun this year I can only imagine 2 races will be twice as much fun.

Happy Mother's Day to all you ladies out there who have the hardest job in the world!
