Marathon Weekend 2017!

I could have sworn a few weeks again i got an email about RunDisney shirts in training! I can't find it and it's nowhere on their website. Can anyone help?

I was looking too! I had to defer last year, but before I did those shirts were great motivation when I was having a tough running day. I found a Wine and Dine registration e-mail that mentioned "in training gear," but there was no mention in the Marathon Weekend e-mail :(. Common Disney, I just want to give you more of my money! :D

So excited to be in for the 5K, 10K and full. It will be my first full. I did the half last year - if only they had some sort of 2-year plan for the Dopey, I'd be set! It'll give our group a day to sleep in, at least.

Now off to think about hotels and food and travel plans and training plans......:D

Disneyworld.com doesn't allow hotel reservations past 12/31/2016. Any ideas on when we'll be able to book in January?

I'm in a DVC conundrum for January. My use year is Feb, and I'm out of 2016 points. I could borrow 2017 to book Saratoga now, but then I risk losing some if I'm able to book somewhere cheaper at the 7-month window. I'd like to keep the points as low as possible. So, I'm thinking I could book a cash room now, and cancel that if I'm able to get a low-point DVC room later. But... can't book a room in January!

You can book now for January if you call. They don't allow online bookings until July I believe.

As Ryan mentioned, you can just call and book now. As a repeat January resort booker, and someone who really dislikes making decisions on the phone without a visual, I've used this trick to get a sense of resort rates for early January before calling: I plug in December 31 as a check-in date and then January 9 as our check-out date. You'll be able to see rack rates for each night at the beginning of January by clicking "rate details." I like to look it up and consider that info before calling. I'll probably call to book our first few days in a value soon, and then when discounts pop up in the fall, I'll book January 4-9 at a deluxe (and our choice will depend on availability of discounts.)

I am actually really surprised

I wasn't surprised if only b/c the cost astronomical! Then again that's never stopped anyone before. when my husband I ran the Goofy we were pretty shocked at how CROWDED it was. I mean wall to wall people. We can stand the crowding for one race but paying the high entrance fee for the Goofy or Dopey just isn't worth it for us.

You can book room only reservations now, but you have to call. However, when 2017 packages are released in a couple months, I think you would have to cancel your room reservation and rebook as a package if you want that option. Someone can correct me if I am wrong , but I believe this to be the case.

I ended up getting a few of my coworkers to sign up for the half marathon, and one signed up for the full! It was definitely an interesting lunch because we were all getting in at different times, but luckily we all got in. Now the hard part is getting that time off since most of them are supposed to work that day... Our scheduling manager isn't excited about it at all...

After feeling sad from seeing the 10K sell out so fast and missing out, I opted for the half and now I need someone to talk me off the ledge. This will be my first half!:hyper:
Here's a modest proposal - let Disney be your second half! Sign up and run/walk/crawl a half marathon in about 3:15 or so prior to October and you'll be able to start anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour before the last corral does - getting you in front of literally thousands of runners and letting you breathe easier when lining up for pictures and what not...

Or a 10K could be used for proof of time, too!

So how long did it take for the 5K and 10K to sell out? Good to see everything else still open

This is my first half! I can barely do a 5K. I am hoping to make it within the pacing time! I saw a lot people that finished the princess half that didn't seem that fit (like myself) I am going to try my best!
Pick a training plan and stick to it. You'll do great!

They went on hold after 20-30 minutes and were officially sold out about an hour later.
