Marathon Weekend 2017!

Seriously, I get it. I'm just coming back from 2.5 months off (and it was pretty upsetting to take that much time off) and had to DNS the Princess 5K and defer GSC. Hoping the deferral link pops up for PDC too. It sucks!

Forgive me for being a noob...what do DNS, PDC and GSC stand for?

Where can I find exactly what the cost will be to register for the 1/2 marathon?
I saw these posted on Facebook from a Travel Agent...don't forget to add in an additional 6.5-7% of the coast in Active.com fees!

Walt Disney World 5K: $70
Walt Disney World 10K: $115
Walt Disney World Half Marathon: $175
Walt Disney World Marathon: $175
Goofy Challenge: $370
Dopey Challenge: $580

What is everyone's thoughts on the Race Retreat package for the 1/2 and full? Anyone ever do it before? I was considering it because I am doing Dopey.

I've never done it because this will be my first race longer than a 5K at Disney, but I am considering it mainly because the weather can bo so unpredictable. It will be nice to be in a tent in case it's cold or precipitating.

I've always heard mixed things. Some people love it some people would rather not do it.

This is essentially what I've heard, but I think I've heard slightly more on the apathetic/negative side than the positive side. It's not that people don't like/appreciate the race retreat; it's a question of whether it is worth the fee. I think many people believe there are other ways to spend the money during a Disney vacation that add more value to their experience.

I agree. I think I'd rather spend my money on merchandise or other things that will last me longer. Now if you're only doing the races and not going to the parks I'd say it's probably more worth it.

It also depends on your start corral and the actual amount of time you will spend in the race retreat.
Having experienced my first runDisney Race - Dopey 2016; and making the mistake of not submitted a time (I've learnt now)... it wasn't worth the pre-race. A bagel here and water bottle was great... but nothing the concession stalls couldn't provide.

The Post-race (given our last corral placement) meant that we only enjoyed the race retreat tent for 30/40 minutes....

Overall: It wasn't worth the added cost to have a couple of bagels, bottled water and a space to stretch afterwards.

This is very true! The corral makes a huge difference. Three of us got it for last year's Princess and one did not. I was in a middle corral, so it worked for me post race. The friend who didn't purchase it was happy that she had not spent the money because the tent was shutting down as she was finishing. I probably wouldn't get it for another half because we make brunch/early park reservations. I do plan on getting it for the full because I am doing the Dopey.
