If we drove it would be about 20-21 hours but we don't have any dogs currently so you have me there.Well, technically it's my "reward" for driving 18 hours each way with three dogs in the car. Yikes!

So, how long is everyone planning to stay down there for marathon weekend? Anyone making a trip out of it?
I'm going to fly down on Friday, do the expo and one park Saturday, race and another park Sunday, Magic Kingdom on Monday, then fly home Tuesday. My biggest question at this point is what parks to go to other than MK on Monday. I was all set for HS/Epcot, but then AK announced it's new Rivers of Light show would be done...choices, choices.
DW, DSiL, DBiL and I are all planning to do the Dopey. We are staring offsite which I actually prefer.
DW and I were down for the Marathon weekend on 2015...man, it was cold that weekend. Those poor folks staying on site had to leave the WDW buses from their resorts and froze in the <40 degree temperature before each race.
We were able to stay in our car in the parking lot as long as we wanted before we had to enter the corrals. We were still cold when we got out but at least for not as long.
As long as you get up that little bit
earlier to avoid the last minute traffic jams, staying offsite is just fine.
Which hotel do you use for staying off-site? I'm staying at Pop this year since it's my first time. I'm a worrier and I want to leave as little to chance my first go around. But, maybe next time I'd be more comfortable staying off-site.
They are, and it does. For those of you who have done marathon weekend before, what's the decoration situation like? Are all the Christmas decorations still up? I thought I saw photos from last year where the castle still has all the gorgeous icicle lights on it.
Some years the Christmas stuff is still up, some years it's not - depends on when in January the weekend happens to fall. With the race weekend being January 4-8 I would guess it'll still be there and coming down throughout the weekend, and that the light will still be there on the castle for the half marathon and marathon. For those of you who have done marathon weekend before, what's the decoration situation like? We stay at Sheraton Vistana Resort. It is just the other (south) side of I4 from Disney Springs @ 535.
It's a very large resort and we've never had a problem getting a nice 2 bedroom for about $150.
My group is going on Tuesday 1/3 and we will be staying at Art of Animation. I like the suites and the 2 bathrooms are a plus. I was hoping to do the Castaway Cay challenge and jump on the Dream on Monday, but I don't see the challenge listed for 2017. I have emailed Run Disney twice but never heard back. I really am hoping they do not get rid of that challenge. My friends and I are doing the Dopey.
No, but they never change...the dates just get updated. So you could grab an old one and know what to expect.Does anyone have any idea when they are going to update the training plans for marathon weekend?
