For those of you lucky enough to have received your gift card already, have you seen or heard if there's a way to apply the $180 balance to a pre-existing physical gift card? I've got a gift card attached to my Disney visa, and it'd be nice to be able to move the $180 from the refund card to my other card. This make too much sense for rD to do, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Not a problem. I just did this 5 minutes ago. I had a gift card left with a balance from last week and transferred the whole $180 to that card. I had to do it through the Disney Gift Card website, and it was no problem.

Requested deferral on the 13th, got response just now - not being offered to challenge participants - gift card or tickets. Don't really understand that reasoning. At least they responded by noon.

I requested my deferral on the 13th as well, but haven't heard anything (I was not a challenge participant).

The countdown to noon is really making my registration finger twitch. I've never participated in W&D, but it sure does look like a lot of fun.

Is the card attached to your Disney Visa [I assume Chase] a Disney Dream Dollars Rewards Card? If so, you can not transfer the Disney gift card balance to a Disney rewards card. I asked that question of Chase last week and this is the response I got:

Thank you for contacting us regarding your Disney Rewards
Visa® Card from Chase.

James, unfortunately, you unable to add the balance from
the gift card to your Disney Dream Dollars® balance.

I'm in the same exact boat. Both my husband and I requested the deferral and haven't heard back. We want to do the challenge, too, but would be happy just to do the half. Not sure if I should call them or not, but I don't want to be that annoying person...

Based on reports from a bunch of folks that rD changed the options for challengers again, I gave up waiting for an automatic gift card and emailed about it yesterday - received a reply within hours that they'll get right on it. So if you were Goofy or Dopey and haven't yet contacted rD about what you want for the canceled half, I'd get on it - "automatic" doesn't seem to be happening!

The initial info said Goofy and Dopey participants didn't need to do anything: partial refunds would be issued automatically. It appears that they changed that tune over the past week, though. I can't access them at the moment, but I have screen shots of the original message. They're all over social media, though - should be easy to find!

Medals will be awarded on Sunday, Jan. 8, after the full marathon. Your refund will be automatically sent to you via electronic Disney Gift Card."

I'm giving them til the end of the week before I contact them. They've got a lot of refunds to get out and it's not like I have a pressing need for a Disney gift card right this second.

.....but I'm paranoid and fired off an email that night anyway and got my gift card on Friday. So maybe the fact that I sent an email early made mine come faster? Good luck everyone!!!

Well, there are multiple options to choose from....you are assuming that they default to the refund option, but runDisney assumes that you will let them know first what you want: cash or deferment. Until you do contact them, they won't make the choice for you until the absolute last moment. So if you don't email them now to say, yes you want option 1, then they wont send you cash until you do.

And the original guide, not the emails, said specifically you were to email them on the 13th. That is gone now, but it said you had to at least tell them which option you wanted and if you chose option 1 then you didn't have to do anything beyond that because they would email you the refund. It didn't mean you didn't have to contact them at all.

When people started getting refunds who had emailed them the alarms started going off in my head that I might never see anything if I waited. By beginning the process of fulfilling them piecemeal I was worried about what would happen when they actually had to go back and figure out which registrations had received a refund and which hadn't. Needless to say, I wasn't confident that their initial proclamation (that Dopey and Goofy runners didn't need to do anything) would prove true.
