Marathon Weekend 2017!

Just remembered why I hate Delta so much. Trying to do online check-in was a huge pain. My own fault for booking their super economy fare so no seat assignments until check-in, but can't get it to give me a boarding pass for my two 13 year olds because it keeps trying to assign them to an exit row seat. Of course, I answer the questions that they are not eligible to sit in an exit row seat because of their age, so then it won't finish checking them in. You'd think their system could see they are 13 and not try to assign them there, but no. *sigh* When did air travel become such a pain in the ***? We'll just plan to get to the airport extra early tomorrow morning and get it resolved. Flying out of Kansas City and of course forecast for snow overnight. Hoping for no delays.

Deep cleansing breath...we will be in Florida tomorrow and it will all be fine. OHM>>>>>

Does anyone have any speculation on what RD plans might be if there are thunderstorms Saturday morning prior to the race when they have thousand of people out in a parking lot? Obviously this is not like W&D a couple years ago where they could pretty much get everyone indoors.

I guess if any storms are in the area early, I guess they could always delay bus pickups.

Saturday now calling for Thunderstorms
I've been following it for a few days, and it seems to worsen every time I look. I just HAD to do the Half because I've done it every year since 2012. Could have been content with doing the 10K with my sister and cousin, but nooooo, I had to do both. :sad2:

There goes my only streak that matters -- 11 Run Disney weekends without rain. :p

Suggestion - get to your airport earlier than you think you need to. Apparently there is still heavy holiday travel (don't remember this being an issue for past Marathons Weekends). I cut it close this morning!

Yup. I've got a frantic text message thread with my running buds about both days. Need poncho's for the start of the half and now the full looks like it's going to be in the 30's at the start. I had an old oxford dress shirt I was going to wear to keep warm for the full but I think I'll probably need something warmer and gloves. So it's gone from I hope it's not to warm and humid when looking at the weather a week ago to, I hope this isn't a repeat of the 2010 Disney on ice.

Can you just check them in and let Delta give them those seats, then you and Chris switch with them? At least you could be checked in then. I am flying Delta too, but not until Friday. I am going to set a reminder to check in tomorrow at noon lol.

What's everyone planning on doing for clothes for the marathon? Throwaways with shorts/tshirt underneath or long sleeves/pants for the whole thing?

I am repp'ing Daisy Duck so I went on Amazon last night and ordered yellow/mustard leggings to wear under my white skirt. They are supposed to be delivered to my resort Friday. Hopefully I don't get too hot running in them. But now it looks COLD! I just wanted to have another option if this forecast sticks. Then I just have a fleece blanket to use in the corral. Idk what to do for my top. Hopefully I will warm up running.

These could be duck legs, right? :)IMG_2550.PNG

Lots of schools are still off. The parks were very busy the last two days.

Looking at Accuweather they are calling for afternoon thunderstorms. Which while it puts a damper on trip at least hopefully means we won't be standing around in the rain pre-race.

oh good. weather channel.com had it as morning thundershowers...

The AccuWeather app is currently showing a 50%+ chance of rain/storms from Friday afternoon through Saturday noon. Still looking wet for all of the half based on that.

When we got in last night we checked in at Bonnet Creek and then headed over to Disney Springs. Because of the mess getting down it was 8:30 when we arrived and 8:55 when we got to Guest Relations to upgrade our tickets to APs. The wait was 2 hours at Guest Relations, but they took our names and told us to walk around and have fun and come back in 90 minutes. We ate at Earl of Sandwich and walked around, then headed back and waited until almost midnight to get help. But it was worth the late night because we got the extra month on the APs! This covers us for tickets all year plus for next year's WDW Marathon weekend. That should help me convince the wife to run again next year!

Hope everyone gets in safely. Headed to the Expo soon, then over to Epcot for some refreshments. :drinking1

Just read that they're letting non-race retreat people into the expo at 11 - not noon as published. This is second-hand from Facebook so take it with a grain of salt...may the odds be ever in your favor.

Fit2Run or Track Shack might have number belts. Check the expo guide to see if SPI Belt is a vendor. If they are, they should have their number belts on hand.

Cigna booth is also giving out free belts. Virtual goody bag says you need the phrase that pays - "Cigna – Together, all the way"

Good Luck Everyone!!

Whether you are running the 5k, 10k, half, full, several, or all of the races this weekend, I hope everyone has a great time. There are many of us here that are not participating this weekend, but know that you are all in our thoughts as you embark on your journey(s) over the next four days.

The training is done... now relax and go [perform/enjoy/encourage/finish/celebrate]* during the actual event(s).
