Marathon Weekend 2017!

They definitely push you back for challenges. My old bib for the marathon (before I transferred) has me in corral E. My Dopey bib puts me in F. I'm still happy! :D

I am in I but wont be nearly that fast with my heel pain. I am in survival mode.

Improved my POT and fell back one corral to G this year for the Half and Full. Not disappointed, gives me something to chase next year. I guess it's getting more competitive or they have put fewer people in the forward corrals?
Buddy!!! G for me too (I'll be the 6' 3" Mickey Mouse, complete with bright yellow running shoes). Although I might drop back to H where my DD (Dopey Daughter) will be - hard not to take the opportunity to enjoy the quality father/daughter time that 1 lap of Disney will provide...

For the first time ever I'm a little disappointed in my placement...oh well. It'll still be fun. :)

I'm with you. But I'll say "oh well" too! Based on my current POT, I thought I could be in C. Based on the POT I actually submitted, I anticipated D. But I'm in F! For the 2015 WDW marathon, I started in E and I've improved my times since then, so that was confusing.

I did call runDisney just to check. They answered right away, checked my records, and explained that, because I submitted a half marathon POT for Dopey, they added 13 minutes onto my estimated marathon finish time.

In the end, it's all good. Again, my goal is to complete Dopey comfortably and have fun. All of this just prevents me from going out too fast or being too ambitious.

So the only way for spectators to watch at WWoS is with their own car (or uber etc)? There is no Disney bus there from anywhere on property?

Good luck! I'm going to test out my knee tomorrow to see how it's progressing. Maybe we'll meet up and limp along together for a while!

First one too! She is doing her own personal "Dopey Challenge".

2014 - 5k
2015 - 10k
2016 - HM
2017 - M
2018 - DOPEY?!?! (<----- We'll see on this one as I want to see her survive the marathon before I'll consider allowing her to do this. Call it being an over-protective son.)

She always use to run occasionally when I was a kid, but with no rhyme, reason, or races. After I lost 100 pounds and got so into running she took up the hobby again as well. I'm very proud of how far she has come and interested to see how she does in Disney. If you think I am a competitive person, you've never met my mom... She takes it to a whole new level! She is really hard to rein in sometimes.

Us together after her first HM in August 2015.

Love this! Looks like the post-race photos of my son and me . . . we make the exact same face!! What corral is your mom in?

In 2015, my husband and our middle son found a bus to WWOS. It was random - my entire family was going to meet me at AK or DHS, but waited at Poly for a long time and didn't see an AK or DHS bus. Then it all fell apart. I'm not sure where my parents went (club lounge?) but they turned up at the finish line! My husband and middle son randomly boarded a WWOS bus they never expected to see, and our oldest took our youngest on rides at Epcot. Our oldest claims he "took one for the team" by keeping our youngest occupied. Ha!

Anyone register late? I just registered our oldest for the half on December 2, and waivers are only available for those registering by Nov. 28. Will his waiver become available online later, or do I have to print at the expo?

Can't remember if we discussed this yet...

EDIT: We did, right, because someone said somewhere that it looks like we don't run under the toll booths (not pictured below). I see that better now. Mile Marker 5 is in a different location too.

Very interesting!

@Keels I am hoping to make the Friday meetup!

I registered on 11/30. No waiver for me yet :(

Thanks! The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree I guess. It would be fun to run with my daughter as well. Although only if she wants to, as I'll support her in any healthy hobby choice she chooses. She does like to play the "running game". We stand on opposite sides of the hall and she runs towards me yelling "water, water, water". I hand her a "water bottle" (actually a play kitchen mustard bottle) and she pretends to take a few drinks, says "thank you" and then runs down the hall again. Rinse, repeat.

I'll add a funny story about my mom from last year. She got a Garmin GPS watch (a 220 I believe) and rarely (as in never) used it in training. We're standing in the waiting area before the Disney 2016 HM and she puts on the watch and says "Oh darn, I remembered to charge it this time (the last race she didn't realize it had to be charged) but it looks like it is broken!" I said, "Why do you say that?". And she said, "All the numbers are upside down!". I said, "You are wearing it upside down...." :rotfl2: Oh technology...

Hooray for Dopey 2018!

Oh-the water story is too precious!

And the mom story is Great! I just love mom stories, and daughter stories too!

Answering my question! I just called, and they said late registrations will receive an e-mail with the waiver. :)

I'm in the same corral for the half as I was for last year's Dopey with a better POT. Oh well, I know what kind of time I have for photo ops and such then! Seems like corrals are more competitive than last year!

I am in the same boat. I registered late and am now worried that I'll have to print my waiver at the expo.
