Marathon Weekend 2017!

If been dealing with PF pain in the heel myself. I've taken the last two weeks off but I think I'm going to try a run this afternoon! I tried a variety of boots/socks but nothing worked as well as KT Tape for me. Maybe it's just hiding the problem but the pain is pretty much nonexistent with the tape on!

I ran once with the tape and it did help, but afterward the pain was pretty bad, so finally just decided to stop running until it improved. I did buy some compression socks advertised to help as well so thought when I am ready to run again to give them a try along with the tape. I'm throwing everything I can at it right now. LOL

my plan is to be wearing tape 24/7 from now through the marathon and keeping my fingers crossed. :confused3

Not necessarily overrated, but does anyone actually like The Enchanted Tiki Room? Such a pointless attraction.

As for training, I've been dealing with foot issues on and off since I had a stress fracture in March. I've conceded my feet probably won't feel normal until I can take a few weeks off after the marathon. I'm just trying to tough it out until then.

It has been 11 months since my break in my left foot and I still have aches in that foot. I have been told that it is normal and may take years to completely disappear - if it ever does. The things that we runners are willing to endure. :upsidedow

One of my favorites!

Not sure if deep muscle injuries are correlatable to your stress fracture, but I tore my hamstring over a year ago and I still have discomfort in it at times. I've talked to folks with similar injuries and they've had lingering pain for years, in some cases.

Gasp!

The Tiki room is a walt original!

Boma and Dole Whips
I hit like, but since I haven't been to Boma, I'm really just responding to the Dole Whips--I had one and didn't really like it. Tried another at the insistence of a pal who swore I must have gotten a bad one. Nope, I just don't like 'em!

Not being very original here but as an overrated attraction at Disney World I have to agree with several others - Seven Dwarf Mine Ride. I remember the first time I rode it before I could even decide if I liked the ride it was over... For as long as we waited for the ride to be completed and all the talk and all the lines, I wanted my fast pass back!

Has anyone else's training been less than ideal so far? I was doing okay following the Galloway plan, but had a series of misfortune (knee pain and then some random painful swelling in my toe that I still haven't resolved) and I haven't run in the past three weeks. I have a half marathon coming up next weekend that I'm pretty nervous about. I know I can do it, but I feel like it's going to be torture since I haven't run in so long. I'm so nervous that I'm not going to have enough time to get back on track and train anywhere near adequately for the marathon. Looking for your reassuring experiences! :guilty:
Got a solid first week, felt great and then our cat Stitch got sick. Thought we had a diagnosis, he was on the upswing so we could feel comfortable running inside on our treadmill again without stressing him out (too dark to run outside before work) and then our a/c broke during a heat wave. 85 in the house for 3 days before we could get it fixed and downhill he went. Flash forward 3 weeks, a weekend of syringe feeding, a biopsy and waiting a week for results, we finally have a confirmed diagnosis and he's in the right treatment. We have slowly started training again, but both of us are suffering from knee or ankle or big toe or achilles issues. Fully back in to training tomorrow (which was a date 2 weeks ago we decided we needed to be back at it or consider cancelling the marathon out of fear it would be too much too soon) and I'm hoping our ailments will pass and our little boy will continue getting better! You are not alone at all!

In "honor" of this being week 13 of the countdown and the closure brought on my Hurricane Matthew, this week's Sundays are for Disney question is on the most overrated Disney experiences (because we can all agree that riding out a hurricane is pretty overrated). This can be anything related to the WDW experience - an attraction, restaurant, resort, FP+, the dining plan, etc. Just make sure it's something that is actually overrated. No one likes waiting in line for 90 minutes to see Anna and Elsa, for instance.

Hmmm ... I don't really like to say things are over/underrated at Disney because what people enjoy and stuff is SO subjective.

Anyway. For me, I don't really care for 7DMT - it's not something I burn a FP+ on, and I'm certainly not going to wait in line. For dining? I guess Via Napoli?

I agree with this sentiment. I know there are a lot of people who love Soarin' (the attraction I mentioned), it's just not my cup of tea.

Welp. The Rangers were swept tonight, so it looks like I'll be heading to Florida a lot sooner than I was expecting.

So, fingers crossed for a great week at PT this week. The plan is if three days of longer workouts on the underwater treadmill, I could be released to general physical activity the following week. It would be a great start to my month in Orlando if I can start longer walking and shorter runs to gear up for Dopey.

I had kinda the same experience going into my September races - hadn't done nearly enough training over the summer (wayyyy too hot/humid outside, and hate the dadgum treadmill in the basement) - but ended up PRing both races, albeit in perfect conditions. You'll do fine, based on your previous training commitment. And January is still 13 weeks out so you'll do fine there too...
