Marathon Weekend 2017!

I will probably try and bag check a chocolate milk in a lunch box with an ice pack. I also purchased the race retreat, and the muffins and an ice cold coke were pretty good last year for what I wanted immediately after the marathon last year.

@mbwhitti would freeze a chocolate milk the night before and let it thaw in her check bag so it was always the perfect temp. That may be easier than the lunch box!

24 weeks, everyone!

This week's Sundays are for Disney question:

What's the first thing you plan to eat or drink right after the marathon (or your longest race)?

I think I'm going to head into Epcot and get the biggest margarita I can find. I'm typically more of a beer guy, but a margarita sounds really refreshing and the extra booze should ease some of the aches and pains.

I'm sure there will be some chocolate milk involved upon finishing and perhaps a beer. Otherwise, not completely sure. A lot of it will depend on how well the 7 and 13 month olds with us want to cooperate.

PowerAde
Chocolate milk ( Thanks to Keels for the frozen milk idea)
A coke or coffee, depending on the weather.

I will be waiting for all of my group to finish (6 other people), so I am pretty sure I will be inhaling the contents of the runner's box, unless I spring for the retreat.

Immediately after will probably be whatever is in the snack box. I usually need an hour after my half marathons before I feel hungry. This is my first full marathon, so hard telling what will sound good. Right now I'd say a beer and a brat with a lot of sauerkraut!

Only doing the half this year.
After the race, head back to the resort and drink my chocolate milk. It's my favorite thing to drink after a long run.
Clean up and head out to Epcot. Lunch at Sunshine Seasons and then drinks in WC followed by dinner at Via Napoli.

I'm hoping to pick up a beer on the run through Epcot and work on it on my way to the finish. After the run probably just water and powerade or whatever they have.

Thanks for that idea! Will the freezers in the Disney Resort rooms' mini-fridges freeze it well enough?

Once finishing Dopey I plan on downing some Cherry juice that I love to drink after long runs that will be in my bag and then eat out of the box! Last year I had some sparkling wine so if I am up to it I will enjoy that before heading back to the hotel to get ready for DATW the rest of the day/night!

~sigh~ Yet another gel. ~sigh~ My blood sugar crashes HARD post-race, so I alwyas pack an extra gel to hit immediately after finishing - that buys me time to get through the finish chute and to my car where I'll have a milk and Clif bar waiting. For several hours after that it'll be a bunch of small things to recover before a good dinner that night. Boring, but functional!

I will probably try and bag check a chocolate milk in a lunch box with an ice pack.
Just note that ice packs are specifically listed as not allowed for bag check. If you get shelf-stable milk it might not be cold, but should at least be cool at air temp in Jan.

Ahh... Thanks for that. I guess if I can't freeze the milk, I could put ice in zip lock baggies??? Idk. I may change my mind completely.

After a long race I am usually focused on finding chocolate milk and then a good burger. After Dopey this year it will be O'Hana and all the yumminess it has to offer!

So, does anyone know when we'll get a look at the 2017 runDisney gear and the New Balance shoes? I'm trying to budget for the trip and figure out what I might grab at the expo.

Likely not until after the rest of the 2016 races. They took a while to release the new balance shoes last year.
