Marathon Weekend 2016

It's funny how perceptions vary based on where you're from and what you're used to. I was just sitting here thinking this was by far the coolest, most comfortable half marathon I've run!

OMG--I thought the weather was fabulous! I wasn't thinking humid at all. I was still expecting a Mylar blanket at the end. Lol. Promptly changed into my long sleeved tech shirt as soon as I got my bag

We finished off pace as DD had an issue that took a couple of miles to resolve. That plus the ummm...pause....going through the castle, I found being 20
Minutes off not too shabby.

And was it Disney Emily (?) who gave the arrival tips for my family. Could not have worked better. They parked fairly close to the finish and were able to just hang out in the warm car until we had about 5K to go.

And for those wondering---they were still letting folks access corrals at 5:30 this morning. That was unexpected. Don't know if that is a change from prior years. K never even filled before they were moved on ahead. Then L joined up and folks were still arriving looking for corral I. But figured I would share. We still liked arriving early.

Congratulations. The humidity made it a pretty warm one out there, not the easiest conditions for your first half marathon.

Being from South Florida I thought today was very nice. Almost jacket weather for us. :lmao: I didnt run today but I am tomorrow. So I am hoping for the same conditions morning.

Half completed - 1:43:11

Just need to run a 4:09 or less tomorrow to meet my goal of a sub-7 hour Dopey.

FYI, they closed corral B at 5:30 but were willing to still let people in.

Wow! You are killing it! Congratulations and great job on all the hard work you clearly put in to meet this goal. 4:30 or faster tomorrow for me puts me under 8 hours, my goal. You are inspiring!

does anyone know what time they let corral p go today?

They were 3-5 minutes between corrals. I was towards the last 1/3 of L and crossed the start at 42 minutes. We got to the mile 1 marked at just under 13 minutes and heard the fireworks faintly for the 3rd time after we left which was group O.

(Just in case someone doesn't chime in--that will give you a ballpark guesstimate.)

The humidity impacted me as well (CT boy), but still had a good time and modified my pace to accommodate. Waiting for the fog to lift so I can nap at the pool! Not that I can't nap in the fog.....just makes it a little bit more rewarding in the sun!

Just finished a leisurely half marathon with lots of character stops. GPS had us at 14 milesfrom starting line to finish. I have the rain yesterday to thank for my blisters developing on my two smallest toes on my right foot. That won't be much fun tomorrow; but I'm 3/4 done and almost halfway to the finish line!

Yeah, I'm going to be dealing with some serious blister action this afternoon. Effing rain.
