Marathon Weekend 2016

That wasn't for all the corrals. We didn't leave bag check until 5am last year and had no problem at all getting into our corral. That said, the written instructions do say that you should be there at 5, I believe.

We are 15-20 minutes away and plan to leave our hotel at 3am. Goal is to be at the Epcot parking entrance no later than 3:30.

book says to plan for 20-Minute walk to corral. I don't see it mentioned where I can find it easily, but I believe it is expected that all runners be in their corrals by the start time.

I don't think I'm understanding the logistics...why the need to be there 2 hrs in advance?

Cause 25,000+ people all trying to get to the same place at the same time it's gets crazy crowded fast and what should take 10-15 min can easily take 30-40...

I am offsite and don't wish to be caught in traffic. Roads begin closing at 3:30. We were at OKW wed night and they had given us maps (which I have misplaced) that had the roads in front of Epcot closing maybe by 4am.

And you have to be in the corral by 5am per the clarifications just posted. So it is just 90 minutes early.

And from prior coaches, arriving early mitigates stress and allows for plenty of time to go to the bathroom a million times.

But basically--my goal is to beat any 4am road closure.

Oh yeah--and this.

The goal is to avoid a traffic nightmare. I can always just sit and chill in my car (with alarm on iPhone set just in case).

They have been closing off corrals as the actual corral is being walked up and have been sending people to the next available corral. Husband saw it happen to a couple of B corrallers today for the 10k. They were told to go to the next corral. We waited until practically 5:30 to walk to our corrals because of the rain.

At 6:15 a.m. there were still a runner or two coming through the security checkpoint. Hope they started their Garmin's then. As they were going to have to run the whole thing because I think Corral L had just gone off

Just finished a leisurely half marathon with lots of character stops. GPS had us at 14 milesfrom starting line to finish. I have the rain yesterday to thank for my blisters developing on my two smallest toes on my right foot. That won't be much fun tomorrow; but I'm 3/4 done and almost halfway to the finish line!

I'm coming from only a couple of miles west of World Drive on the 192 as well. I hate the idea of being there for 2 hrs waiting but don't want to be dumb about it as well. Are you still planning on leaving at that hour?

Congratulations. The humidity made it a pretty warm one out there, not the easiest conditions for your first half marathon.

If anyone is interested, prior to the start of the marathon before heading to the corrals, potentially a small group of us from Louisiana are going to say a short little prayer. Let me know if you are interested and I'll post the details as plans become more concrete as far as exact location and time.

Thank you for this invite, going to try and make it. Thought I would share, and many of you probably experienced today, that the bag check really slows things down! If the plan is still for 4:30 then plan to leave early if you are wanting to go. I was a bit lazy this morning at my hotel and got stuck in the bag check line for a LONG TIME! I almost didn't make my corral and was running from gear check to my corral! Leaving a lot earlier tomorrow.
