Marathon Weekend 2016

Hooray! I leave in 2 weeks and a handful of hours. I can't wait. I just have one 9 miler left and some shorter runs to go.

I have no idea what I am wearing though! I don't do costumes. I just wear a running out fit that fits the theming. For W&D I had some great running tights that had so many reflective diamonds on them, they glowed during the night race. For PHM I had tights that looked like the stained glass window from Beauty and Beast. I have outfits ready to go for the dark side challenge even! But, this one is stumping me. I think it is because I was never a big fan of the "big" characters.

quick suggestions based on the race mascot with stuff I imagine you may already have
5k (pluto) - yellow tights and yellow shirt
10k (Minnie) - any kind of red and white combo should work
Half (Donald) - White or yellow tights, blue top
Marathon (mickey) - red tights black top

and now for my question of the moment, at other races Ive been in they sometimes have little things you can get at the expo such as "1st Marathon" or "1st Half Marathon" and then attach them to whatever you are wearing anyone know if they have them for Disney or not?

You can do red tights and black top for Mickey if you have that (bonus points if you can add in yellow socks or shoes, but that may not be so easy).
Anything with polka dots can work for Minnie Mouse.
Really, this weekend doesn't have quite as cohesive of a theme as some other weekends, so I think you can get away with anything that has even a small Disney touch.

Thanks guys! The break down will help. I have to go through my running shelf! As odd as it sounds...I don't think any of my running gear hits any of those colors! How did I manage that?? As I think about it all my tops are pink, or coral, or orange...and my bottoms are all pink or maroon or black. And yet, my shoes are bright green.

This is the email (grabbed from Facebook). Someone said they talked to Dooney/runDisney and it's legit.

Anyone that pre-ordered, I'd make sure to check your junk mail/spam and your credit cards to make sure you got your refund before re-ordering!

I didn't preorder the DDB since I didn't love it, but I can't believe it's delayed until the end of March! What the heck??? After you do the race, you want to use the bag to celebrate! I really want to know what happened.

Had a Marathon weekend nightmare last night - we didn't set any alarms, woke up late & had to hop on a boat across a weird swampy moat to get to the start that was already going on. I'm blaming it on the fact it rained here (Nebraska) all day yesterday...in December (today is snowing).

I get the late-for-the-race nightmares too. Along with the forget the locker combination and not prepared for the test nightmares, even at my advanced age. Clearly some anxiety issues I need to deal with at some point.

I was hoping for some warmth, but would prefer the hotter days during the 5k & 10k not the Half and Full. I am a Michigander and have thick blood (this morning I ran 12 and by the second half noticed it was feeling warm; it was 39 degrees). 71 sounds pretty hot right now! Hydrate, Hydrate, hydrate.

Wow crazy on the dooneys. How can a race bag be delayed by 2 months?? Glad I decided to wait for a dark side challenge bag! Hoping they have a good one that is different from the one in the parks right now.

Yeah, both the pattern and the size of the bags (the backpack option was one is never seen before, I'd want to see it in person and have the option to return if I didn't like it).

Yes, this! Exactly, I was eying the backpack too!. I think I'm going to pass. Not worth not liking it I think. Especially paying for it now and not getting it until March!

A little disappointed in the Dooney news. That product being delayed/not available doesn't particularly impact me, but it is a little concerning in the bigger picture that rD may be stretching themselves a little thin by adding more races rather than paying attention to the finer details that have made their events so much fun. With course announcements, merchandise previews, etc. seemingly coming later and later each year I am hoping they aren't resting on their laurels for their already established weekends.

I have to say ... I'm a little surprised that runDisney hasn't announced anything about the Dooneys. If they don't announce something soon, I think there will be people who show up early on day 1 of the expo hoping to get a Dooney ... and they'll be pretty surprised when there were never any to be found.
