Good snowy morning all!! Ok, so not everyone has snow, but if you are on the east coast as I am, chances are, you have snow. Anywhoo... Being 8 weeks PP, I have decided it is time to get back into shape. I have always wanted to run a Disney half marathon and figure there is no time like the present. It will most likely be 2016 or 2017 before I am able to go; however, I figure I might as well start planning now:)

I would like to do a stay either before, after, or both, but I'm not sure which would be the best option. Does anyone have any experience with this? Which time would crowd levels be best? I know touring would be different because of either resting prior to, or recovering after, but I am fine with that. DH and I enjoy taking a relaxing trip, and we will have our DD with us who will be 1 or 2 depending on when we go. It is also likely my parents will be with us as well.

Thanks in advance for your help! Any and all suggestions are wanted and welcome:) Stay warm east coast! To the west coast, enjoy your sunshine and lack of snow!

Hello. I haven't done a run at Disney yet. I plan to 2016. There is a Facebook group called Disney marathon weekend. You will find plenty of answers there. I do know that if you plan on doing a race you want to plan early. They sell out fast.

Just returned from the Disney princess half.
Run was on Sunday. We went to LEGOLAND on Friday, then did MK on Sunday after the race and Epcot the day after.
If you are appropriately trained, you can manage this. I was glad we chose to not do a park day the day prior to the race though. I felt fresh for the race. I was not limping after the race and was able to get around rather well on Monday and Tuesday, but my ITBs were sore in my hips mostly (I saw a lot of people limping around MK Sunday after the race with their medals on)
For work it was the best plan to arrive Friday and leave Tuesday like we did and I was able to tolerate that. However if you think you'll struggle walking the parks after, or wearing your legs out the day before, consider that.
A big benefit to doing your park days post race is that you can wear your medal around Disney and your 'I did it' shirt and you get congratulated by most all cast members. I made a big effort to take my bib around and get it signed by all the princesses (Epcot has the most- Akershus breakfast has a good amt too)

So consider those things when making your decision.
