WOW YOU GUYS!!! I was just rereading the training thread from last week and I'm just in awe at how well everyone did last week! It looks like we're well on our way doesn't it! This is gonna be so fun and exciting!!

I just finished my first ever 7 mile walk. It wasn't in record time, or even close to it- it took 2 hours 16 minutes- but.... I finished it and that is all that counts for now..... right?

I've been thinking about Ashley all week- we ahven't heard from her since she last posted her discouraging news from the trainer. Has anyone heard from her lately??

I was also wondering about Ibouncetoo- haven't seen her post lately either. Who else do we see missing??

And one last shout out to Beth- how are you faring my friend?

good morning karen :) -- cyber high five on completing 7 miles! doesn't it feel great to get beyone the half-way point!

Ashley did reply to the thread I started asking for meal ideas for her - unfortunately she was the only one who posted on that! But that's been a few days and i'm thinking of her too

I got out this a.m. and did 40 mins walk/jog intervals -- not sure how far I may measure it later and edit. followed by 10 mins of yoga

i'm still discouraged that I can't seem to stay on track 100% over the weekends, even with my pumping us up last week I still caved. But on a better note my jeans did slip on a little easier this morning than they had been. not much but at least that's encouraging

still plugging away on my garage sale preparations! this is mainly going to be cruisin money so that i'm all for that!

I'm here

Had a strange week last week, and not much computer time. I'm going to hunt down last weeks's thread and read the whole thing tonight (or on my lunch break at work).

I'm still having trouble getting my focus on the eating part of my program.....the scale hasn't moved in weeks (at least it isn't going UP). I have two weeks till my WDW trip and if I can't FOCUS for two weeks.......well, somebody just shoot me ;)

Well, off to pack my lunch and pack up the gym clothes!

Hi everyone....just finished reading last weeks tread and was amazed by everyone (yet again).

All your times/miles were wonderful!!! Keep up the great work!

Me---not doing too well....I twisted my knee on Thursday, and other than some light moving stuff and painting I haven't been able to do much. Am almost to the point of going to see the Dr again, but am afraid that he'll say that it's time for the 3rd surgery and that would definately take me out of the marathon (6 weeks on crutches, then another 6 weeks recovery time)...and I don't want to quit! I want to atleast try, but I will see how this week goes.

Beth---how's everything going now? Were you affected at all by Jeanne? How's your mom doing? Hugs & PD going your way.

Have a great Monday!

it can wait a few more minutes. Besides I had some caffeine coffee after work so I should be good to go for a bit yet! Tomorrow, we are getting new windows put in the house and have to take down blinds and move furniture - ah - what' the big deal ??? Needless to say my DH made this appt. - we are just too busy this week before we leave on vacation Friday morning - but hey the neighbors want to see those new windows (while we are gone) don't they? Okay - it's a man thing - and I know it will all work out, but why don't I lose weight when I get in a "tizzy" about things ?

Really, the only thing I am "ticked" about is that I really wanted a tootsie roll pop tonight and I'll be durned if I didn't get busy and miss the 7 PM deadline and now of course, I want it more than ever - but I'm done eating and will just have to wait until tomorrow. Did see my DH with one - probably my favorite kind even, but I just pretended that he got one that the tootsie roll got missed in :teeth:

I want to add my "awesome you guys" to the others comments - everyone is doing sooooooooooooooooooooo good. I do think someone mentioned only adding 1 mile a week and my DH (who does run) has told me not to add more than 10% increase a week. I had him help me figure a schedule last night and I can't find the paper in this house mess - it will turn up, but until then I think he has me working toward a 30 mile week and then up to a 35 mile week. I get impatient and want to increase faster than I should, but I want to try to follow his suggestion and on the days that I am done in less time, I want to do some lifting, yoga etc. We'll see - I always think I am going do something great until my alarm goes off and I hit snooze a few times too many

I did 2.5 miles this AM (with a .25 mi. warm up and cool down my rule for that) total 3 mi. for the first day so I followed my schedule. Tomorrow is maybe 5 mi (I really do have to find that paper - I would hate to do more than I HAVE to!) Oh yea - I did Curves today too. Don't be impressed - I am trying to be "good" it's vacation time come Thursday and Friday when we get to Williamsburg - I am having some yummy seafood treats ::yes:: and maybe a glass of wine too - well maybe 2 glasses even!!

But, I am taking my shoes - will take my schedule too and plan to stick to it -

Okay time to go do what I have been putting off -yuck!!!

Keep up the good work everyone - hugs to all and make it a good week - YOU are worth it!!!

Hugs
Bev

I got in my 60 min walk with some jogging intervals tonight. It is getting dark too early here but I sure have seen some beautiful sunsets while walking lately!

Karen 7 miles is great!!!! :cheer2: :thewave: :cheer2:

Molli the weekends are definitely the hardest for me to stay on plan with my eating too. I am nervous about this weekend because I am going away for the weekend with some girlfriends :teeth: but we usually do a lot of eating on our getaway so I'm really going to have to watch it.

ibounce You CAN focus on your eating for 2 weeks. I'll join you in trying to really focus (except I'll probably slip a bit this weekend ;) ) for the next 2 weeks.

mishoe Sorry to hear about your knee  hopefully some rest will help and you'll be able to get in training mode again soon!

Bev I think moving furniture definitely counts as crosstraining ;) Have you ever been to Williamsburg? We were there 2 years ago and we loved it! It is a beautiful area! You'll get in a lot of walking just seeing the sites.
Stay strong and don't eat that tootsie roll pop and I'll stay strong and skip the ice cream I am dying for .

Beth I hope all is going OK with you and you mom!

Ashley Where are you? Please let us know how you're doing!!

Have a great week everyone :sunny:

Cheryl

We rock! We CAN do it!

karebear1--Karen, 7 miler! That is good news!

ohMom--Molli, you sound oh so dedicated. Sorry that you are having weekend difficulty. I guess I must confess that I do too. I used your little quote this weekend and I wasn't as bad though. Thanks for helping me there.

ibouncetoo--Jackie, you are right! At least it didn't go up. It will happen, just keep at it.

mishoe01--Monica, PD to you for your situation. Hope it won't be too bad. Don't injur yourself further. It is not worth it. Do the right thing here. (If need be, you can always come cheer us on.)

AlreadyexcitedGrammy--Bev, You are really on this and it seems like you own it baby! It is good to hear your dedication to yourself. Oh and hey, maybe the neighbors can wash those windows real good just before you come home so it looks like they were just put in! (tee hee)

Adding a mile a week sounds like good advice. We have 15 weeks left so there is still time! 10% increases may be cutting it kinda close, but it still can work too.

I've never been to Williamsburg and have always wanted to go. There was DIS meet there this weekend.

Cheryl N. WI, 60 minutes is good for the evening and adding some jog in there should be a good help I would think.

I did something similar to Cheryl tonight. I went for an hour and 20 minutes and kinda jogged the first half. I amazed myself again today that I could do it! Now it was a slow jog, but I did it. I power walked the way back and then did a cool down walk and stretch. DH went on the trail with me an rode his bike for the hour! I am amazed that he was able to accomplish this so soon out of surgery. He said it was easier than it was before his surgery. He inspires me.

I meant to add that I am wearing the bracelet Bev and am inspired to continue.

Hi Everyone!!!!

Karen-- 7 miles! You ROCK. You have come so far since your heel injury.

Monica-- Ouch! Maybe you should see the dr even if you postpone surgery, just to make sure you aren't going to do more damage to your knee. That sounds awful.

Bev-- moving furniture is definitely a serious workout! I do it all the time. People laugh at my "revolving house".

I don't have much to report. I didn't exercise on Sunday and did elliptical and stair climber yesterday. Today I forgot my workout bag, I may go home at lunchtime and get it and workout after work. I was so mad when I realized I didn't have it with me this morning.

Beth, please report in as soon as you can. We worry about you!

Keep chugging everyone:)

SUndie

this morning I planned on water aerobics, but DD is home from school so I did DA Firm Female FatZones. i'm putzing around here still getting ready for garage sale. i'm close enough that i'm not feeling a push to get it done and i'm playing :) bad me!

anyhow -- i'm adding .25 mile to my long each week. that will bring me around 11 miles in November and i may continue increasing until end of December and then taper. Mom have you been reading marathons for mortals? he says you do not have to go the complete distance in training. you will be fine, you are already doing 10 miles walks. you could do the 1/2 this weekend, relax and don't push yourself too hard. remember burnout and/or injury?? right now i'm doing about 13 miles a week.

actually looking at the training schedule in mar for mortals makes it all seem so easy. anyone going to follow that? next monday, Oct 4 would be the day to start it. but i'm not sure I want to 'restart' at the beginning fitness level that it starts at. I do plan on incorporating his schedule as far as what days to walk/run and how many mins on the training days and then do my long distance I have already worked up to. make sense? He emphsizes REST too - i like that:teeth:

tlily - i'm glad I inspired you and now i feel lame! i need to practice more what I preach! actually my preaching was to self-serve as well and keep me focused; it work part of the time. i sure it could've been much much worse!

anyone order the shirts that Kamy linked to on her thread??

PD for a great training day!!!

((monica)) I hope your knee is feeling better. i'd like to ditto the dr. appt if it's not! PD for recovery for you!

Good afternoon everyone! WOW ... you people just really inspire me !

Karen - 7 miles - Woo Hoo :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Molli/Cheryl/TLily03 - I'm so impressed by your walking/jogging capabilities. I've learned through all my training that I really hate jogging  so it's a brisk walk for me :)

ibouncetoo - I hear ya ! My eating is off as well, but I keep telling myself that I'm practicing for "maintenance" - whenever I finally get there :teeth: It's quite OK for the scale not to move downward -- you're doing wonderful things with your exercise, so don't ever forget that!

Monica - :( so sorry about your knee. Sending PD and good wishes your way.

Bev - my goodness you're a busy lady these days! And yet you still manage to get in your training. You inspire me more than you'll ever know. I'm very busy with my upcoming move right now, but reading your posts makes me believe that I can "do it all"

Sundie - isn't it funny how we get upset when we forget our workout stuff ??? 18 months ago I wouldn't have even thought about taking workout stuff anywhere :teeth:

I've had a slow start to this week's training. Yesterday I went for a 30 min easy walk at lunch, and then I worked really, really hard at Curves last night. Let me tell ya, I was beggin' to get off of the machines after 30 seconds. This is another crazy week for me, so the best I'm hoping for is Curves 3x and at least a 6 mile brisk walk at some point. I should be doing about a 10 mile walk but it's finding the time

Have a great day everyone ... and keep up the awesome work !

Mary-Liz

Hi guys....still nothing to report...keeping active only by painting, and packing up junk.

What's the link to the tshirts? I went to the "wishwalkers" website and didn't see anything.

Thanks!

Well, I emailed about the sweeper truck. "Steve" didn't appear to appreciate my "humour", but he answered the basic questions.

You must maintain a 16 minute per mile throughout the race. If you fall behind that pace at any time, you can be picked up. Usually, the "sweeper truck" is a van or bus. If you are picked up during the race, you will not receive a finisher's medal. You will not be allowed to finish the race at your own pace, since the course is on major highways and through theme parks and those areas will need to be cleared by certain times.

Steve

UGH! He DIDN'T answer, however, WHEN the sweeper truck actually gets on the course. Maybe someone else will have better luck (and someone with a sense of humour---probably a woman) with an email. Do you reckon that as soon as we drop to a 15.9 there is a giant cane to haul me off the road into the waiting truck?

Good work to everyone so far!

Karen, seven miles is NOT easy. Way to go!

Molli, I have a problem with weekends. I don't drink my water, and, boy, do I know it by Sunday evening.

ibouncetoo, nice to see you back. Did you get to the gym?

Bev, I was told the same thing about increasing the mileage. Slow, slow, slow.

Monica, I'm sorry to hear about your knee. :sad2: Can you say "OUCH!" Do you do any knee strengthening exercises while you wait....and, I agree, you should see your doctor. Don't be messing with it!

Tiger Lily...I wish I had the energy to walk every day. Mondays and Tuesdays are especially hard for my to get moving. (Did you ever tell us your real name? I think I missed it!)

Sundie, don't beat yourself up. You are always on the go, so a day "off" isn't going to sabotage you.

Mary-Liz, you'll find the time for something, I'm sure. The crazy weeks just get bigger and bigger, and come faster and faster. Good work at Curves, hun.

Now, I think that I should bust my butt and get out there. WISH me well, people! :teeth:

I'm alive, folks! I'm sorry if I made anybody worry!! I went to visit DBF in Duluth, and came back maybe a little chubbier (lots of eating out), but happier and more energized. That trainer guy (Beautiful Chris) can kiss my little (or as he sees it, big) boomtadada...because that boomtadada lasted for my entire 78 minute run (ran 60, walked 18)! My mileage was 5.39. That brings me up to par with where I *wanted* to be at this point, on this exact day, when I started this way back when. And I have done lots of falling off the wagon, so that's no easy feat! So now my feelings are, "Respect authority, unless of course they tell you it can't be done. Then just tell them to stick it!" I am being quite feisty today! I should also add that the knees that he was concerned about lasted through the entire workout, also. In fact, they actually felt pretty good throughout it. So HAH! In your face, Chris, because I CAN DO THIS! Of course, I get by with a little help from my friends... I haven't worn my bracelet while working out until today (worried about it?), and now I will never work out without it again. Molli, Cheryl, Karen, everybody... Thank you for your support. If I didn't mention your name, I'm sorry, those are just the names that stuck out for me. I would not be where I am without you guys... I would be over wallowing in a SlimFast shake...which I WILL continue to use. Compared to lunch meat, mayo, bread, cheese, and all those other good lunch things, I think this is the better option for me. Oh, did I mention I'm also just lazy? So anyway, I'm feeling a little empowered... I lost 2 pounds (water) during my workout! That was fun!! So I'm here, I'm happy, and I'm ready to go!

Molli - I am following Marathoning for Mortals schedule for Run-Walk, but I modified it at the end, since I'm well past 14 weeks. I changed it so I haven't gone through a taper period yet (not until Christmastime), and now I am up to run 7, walk 1, with all of my weekend runs at 6, 8, or 10 miles. If you would like, I can send you a copy of that. My goal for race day is to do run 9, walk 1, and I KNOW I can do it! I just gotta stick to it!

Monica - Sorry bout the knee, Babe! You gotta get it looked at, though... Missing a race is one thing, but having something more serious happen is entirely different. I know you can pull through, though! Have you considered doing aqua-walking/jogging, with the belt, weights, and shoes? It may be expensive to get started, but if you look up how to do it correctly, you can train for most of a marathon in the water! Low impact for those joints that need to heal!

Debbie - That guy didn't have much of a sense of humor, did he?! Gosh! I heard that the sweeper usually comes on around the 9th mile marker, meaning that if you are not to mile marker 9 by whatever 16x8 is (thinking...) 124?? minutes, then you get carried away I think. That would leave you with an hour and a half or so to finish the remaining 5.1 miles. That is what I have heard, at least, when I called to inquire about the race before registering.

Mary-Liz - What kinds of machines are at Curves? I've never been there, but would like to start incorporating some strength training and am wondering if I could kind of do Curves at my health club? Keep up that hard work, but don't hurt yourself!

Sundie - My heart goes out to anybody who mentions that stupid stair stepper machine. Ugh. No more for me. Keep it up. Climb an extra flight for me!

Cheryl and Lily - Great job on your interval training! I wish we all lived closer, and could train together when we get to points like this where we are at the same point in our training!

Bev - Feel free to come move furniture at my house... I'm through with that stuff! (which is a problem, I'm only 22 and have never owned my own house!)

Karen - Way to go on seven miles! You have come so far! WAHOO!

ibouncetoo - is that trip when you will be doing the 10K? I know you can do it, and you can survive these last couple weeks, too! Just post a whole bunch!

Beth? Ya around? Come back soon! Hope everything is okay!

Thanks, everybody, for taking care of me. You are the most amazing support group a gal could ask for! You mean a whole bunch to this girl right here! (that's ME!)
Ashley:wave2:

Ashley- thanks for checking in! It's really good to know thata you are in a better frame of mind then the last time you posted! Certainly you must realize that you are surrounded by a bunch of women that are moms and you, my dear are the youngin' in the family! That means you have a HOARD of moms protecting you! NOBODY better even think of messin' with your mind- that is if they care to live!

Yesterday was my day off, but today I did my 2 miles. it was the same ol' same ol'. My eating today was very good- compared to the last week when I was like a crazy woman!! I ate anything and everything in sight- INCLUDING Ding dongs, candy, pizza and bread. And I ate a lot! Not just a little nibble here and a little nibble there- I mean BOX's full of this stuff. I WAS A BAD GIRL! Gained some weight back to- but I put a stop to my insanity and got back on program before it was too late!

Debbie- it stands to reason to me that the sweeper truck cannot be in the middle of the pack picking people up and timing individuals. I think if you're at the back of the pack you'll get picked up- so just try to stay in the middle somewhere and you'll be ok..... I'll NOT be the last one oput of the parks etc. just so I can't be swept!

Well, after the 10k, I decided to take Sunday off of training. I ended up taking Mon. off too because the girls had a soccer game. I didn't have time to run before it got dark and was still a bit tired from the weekend. Today I did get to Fitness Express for 55 min. and worked out pretty hard. of course I haven't been staying on plan very well and had a brownie and a glass of milk when I got home. What possessess us to do that?? I need to get back into training because I found another 10K in town on Nov.7 that I will run in for the United Way. I should do okay if I keep at the training plan. I wnat to run more than the last one.
Have a great Wed.

Good am all:wave2:

I love reading all your posts first thing in the morning - it truly brightens my day:sunny: And I need it here, the rain is terrible with flooding last night our yard is a big mud pile - yuck!

I helped at dm church flea market this weekend so I was soo busy but did get in a 3 mile walk/run on her tm. Then had 3 sl of pizza & a beer:rolleyes: If you figure out what makes us do that please let me know! I walked 2 miles mon night and today will walk either inside or hopefully outside if the sun comes out:sunny:

Glad to hear from most of you and want to say you all inspire me:earseek: To Ashley & DEbbie thanks for giving me a few chuckles to start my day:wave:

Have a wonderful wednesday! And I orderd shirts from a site that Kamy listed and am very happy with them:) Try greatwear.com

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone,

I do read this board many times throughout the day and that is why I'm still on course. Yesterday I managed a brisk 35 minute walk on my lunch hour. Last night I tagged hundreds of pieces of clothing for our Clothing Sale this weekend at my DS school. Hopefully tonight I'll get a longer walk in. Can't go at lunch today because my friend is having a "junk in the trunk" sale. She has a daughter a year older than 4 of the women here at work. She is always giving us clothes that her daughter has outgrown. She needs some money to pay for her DD skating lessons hence the junk in the trunk sale. She is going to give me everything that's left over for my sale this weekend. Guess I'll have more tagging to do tonight. Does that count as cross training??

I need to do a longer walk this weekend though because I've only done 6 miles the last two weeks. Debbie, what cha doin Saturday afternoon?? After I work at the sale all morning.:hyper:

Does anyone else find it hard to get the long walks in when you're so busy with other stuff going on? Oh, well our Thanksgiving is the 9th of October and on the Sunday, I'm going to do at least 9 miles. There, now it's in print so it must be true.

Have a super day everyone!!!:sunny:

THE DEVIL!!! THE DEVIL MADE YOU DO IT!!!!!!
(at least he's the one that makes me do it!!)

We must resist the temptation... we must resist the temptation.... EVERYBODY REPEAT AFTER ME....

we must resist, we must resist, we must resist, we must resist.......
(ahhhh- I feel so much better now!)

First I must say what a WONDERFUL INSPIRING bunch of women you all are :grouphug: I am sitting here reading the posts since I posted last with a great big smile on my face. :teeth: I just stopped home for a bathroom break on my walk and was not really feeling like going out for more but today is the only chance for a long walk so I stopped here to see if I could get a little inspiration to get back out there and continue on and you guys did it! As soon as I'm done posting I'm going back out there to walk some more (I've done 50 min so far)!!

Second we must resist, we must resist, we must resist, we must resist.......
You know what Karen I feel better after saying that too, maybe I need to start each day saying that about 10 times!

Ashley it's so good to see you back here with ATTITUDE you go girl!

Well I've got to get back out there, I'll report back in later

Cheryl:sunny:

Happy Wednesday everyone!

plutosmyfav--Sundie, even if you think you hadn't much to report I am so glad you checked in. It seems to me that you have been keeping quite busy. Sounds like you are like me. I need to put a "spare" workout bag in my car for days like that.

ohMom--Molli, Sounds like you are so on plan and even flexible when you need be. Who authors Marathon for Mortals? I have not read that one.

maryliz, good luck with the finding of the time. I know it is difficult. Something always has to give somewhere.

mishoe01--Monica, Thanks for checkin in even if there is not much to tell. Sounds like you are such a busy lady. Hope you are getting better. Don't push it.

Debbie, :earseek: After reading your post I'm a bit nervous. I guess no sense of humor there is really serious huh? I'm thinking we should form a wedge for everyone and block that sweeper!

LittleMissMickey--Ashley, Whoa! you really traveled! That is amazing that you did such a great time. You will make it for sure at this rate! I am so glad that you figured out how and what it is you are going to get to where you need to be. You stick with this bunch and you are right. I am glad that you have the right mid set. You will get there! Everyone here is really great!

karebear1--Karen, Well it seems you had a party last week there! I'm glad you are back from the abyss. I'm with you about not being the last to start then. Maybe they will let the walkers start out first so we won't be swept. I'm voting for that! (Yeah, I know--reality check.) I love that mantra too. Temptation, why no thank you!

decaff38--Beckie, Seems that you are going to "race" your way to January. That is a great motivator.

Auntmeme--meme, Hope you had that sunshine and were able to walk outside. I so love the outside walking.

Susan--Ontario, 9 miles on October 9th. Hmmm, I'm thinking of doing the local Race for the Cure that day or I'd join you on your distance. Hope you make that goal then. Good luck squeezing more time out of your day too.

Cheryl N. WI, So glad that you found a way to get back out there to it! Seems like that mantra worked for you too!

Me, Yesterday I only did the 20 minutes of Windsor Pilates before work. I had my hairs done last night and that was it! Today I did the usual Pilates and then went for a 4 mile walk for about an hour. I mixed up the tempo a bit.

After reading the communication Debbie got from Steve, I am a bit nervous. Yet I am determined that I will do it! I am thinking that I just have to keep my pacing, increase my distances, and not get injured.

Keep it going everyone!
