Marathon Training Thread for 11/28-12/5

Way to go Terry!

That is awesome!

My radio stinks--perhaps I should look into getting a new one. I abandoned mine back in Sept/Oct

Terry I needed to read your post today! I was just getting online to tell everybody how I just am losing any steam I had built up to do any walking anymore! But now- I'm gonna go upstairs and walk on my treadmill. I need to do it, I want to finish this marathon- and, BY GOLLY, I'm going to do it !!!! Thanks! I needed your little shout of joy to move me forward!

PLESAE everybody- REMEMBER...... I'm no expert about these tickewts- I'm just passing on what I've been told.

Jackie- did you order your tickets yet?

Way to go Terry :cool1: Awesome - you do ROCK :cool1:

I passed on the logos to Lily, who will kindly post them for others to download, thanks LILY :flower1:

I did it, I walked 5 miles today and at a 15 in pace :Pinkbounc I was also walking into the strongggggg wind. I feel great, except for my feet :sad1 but now with my slippers on they feel much better :D

Karen, what's the worse that could happen with the tickets? they email you and say no, right? you can always buy them at the park. I'm going to try it too. Where is that link????

Terry's got it - she's got the "zip" now - I can just tell that she is "rip roaring raring to go" (unless tomorrow is a rest day) she's got the "PASSING" itch! WTG! - awesome job - mmmm - is there a commercial in there somewhere for Cliff bars and GU, too :D I also think of passing as mini-goals - gives me a real boost to pick a target and then go and get em!!! Keep up the good work!

Wiskband/Renee

My hurt is at the buttom ball ( the bone right under my big toe) and really no where else. you know that "flat feeling" you get when you walk too much........I am definitly gonna hit the store later and find some coolmax........

I just had to respond to your comment. I had this same "hurt" a couple of years ago when I really got into heavy duty walking. Finally went to a podiatrist and I actually have a broken sesmoid bone. (bone right behind the big toe) I think it is a "fairly" common problem - I was fitted with orthotics and have not had pain since. Dr. did say that it is better to just leave alone (no surgery) unless it becomes too unbearable - again I do quite well with the shoe inserts. Now, I am not trying to say that is your problem, but if yours does not get better - I would suggest that you seek a dr.'s opinion.

Had a chat with oHmom (Molli) earlier and I am going to follow her lead on our park tickets and when we can meet, etc. as I have "hired" her as my personal TA for this trip - I figure it is well worth a few DIS $'s to have such good guidance :earboy2: - thanks everyone for your input on everything, I really am trying to absorb it all - I only get nervous about the whole thing when I read things like "24 more sleeps till Christmas" (yikes!) and trying to figure out what to wear, etc. I practice my yoga breathing, and remind myself to take it one day at a time!

This week I have been able to stick to the MFM training (where in the heck is Little Miss Mickey, anyway). I have been trying real hard to stay with South Beach diet foods and am losing that Thanksgiving "bloat" feeling too! Hooray - I feel like I am going in the "right direction"!

I think of all of you - so often during the day - and really can't wait to meet - I know that we will get it all worked out. I do like the idea of posting pix's sometime - let's think in that direction.

Also, I have a scanned lime green mickey (scanned lime paint chip) that I made name tag/luggage tags for our trip last Dec. I put board name on one side and WISH on the other, laminated them and tied them with green curly ribbon to luggage, carry-on, camera, etc. I plan to use mine again (yes, oHmom I will make you a new one, I didn't get her name just right, last time  Anyway, if you are interested and want me to send the file (it's a WORD document) pm me with your email address. I did have one person -recognize me as a WISHer while in the parks.

Keep up the good work fellow trainees - it won't be long

You can get the designs she is sharing with us here.
Save the pics that you wil use to your computer, or I think you can print them on your transfers right from the site.

There is a front for the 1/2 Marathon
There is a front for the Marathon

The backs are the same.

Let me know if it works. If not, I guess we will need another plan to get these to everyone who wants.

Happy Iron on transferring.
I have not ever done one yet. WISH me luck.

I wanted to let everyone know that Mousesavers is reporting that there will be different types of tickets available starting 1/2/05. You might want to check them out before you purchase the convention tickets.

I LOVE THE SHIRT LOGOS!!!, especially the back! I just have to figure out how to do the transfers.

I put them on here too.
Lily's Place
I figure that maybe it might be easier to access. I am not sure, but I thought I would play with the "free" space I am given here as well. Trying to learn how to work this stuff too.

I am going to be away from the 4th-11th and hope everyone has time to get their shirts in order. I hope to check back in tomorrow once more. If a am not able to do so, then have a great week everyone.

I will look forward to hearing of our progress. When I return I will need to figure out how to do my shirt. If anyone has any pointers by then I will be interested.

Keep on keepin' on!

The shirts are really easy to do ladies. Don't panic- all you have to be abel to do is read and follow directions! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZSYYYYYYYYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_3_130.gif' border=0></a>

So are we doing the logos on lime green t-shirts....or white????

running over to mousesavers to see about the tickets.

Here's the link:
http://www.mousesavers.com/wdwticketprices.html#myw

A two day park hopper would be $154 (plus tax) and valid for 14 days from first use. Another example: a 3 day park hopper with no expiration date $216. The longer the length of the ticket....the better the savings.

So what did you think of the Mousesavers info, Jackie? I think we would still be better off with the convention tickets. Unless I am misunderstanding something, the convention tickets are a better value.

If anyone is still looking for socks, I found the perfect pair at Fleet Feet. They are called Wright Sock Lite. They are thin socks (which I prefer) with 2 layers and Coolmax! I have some other coolmax socks but these are by far the best. I am going to get some more this week. I have found another piece of my marathon wardrobe!! :teeth:

Yes, the convention tickets are a better value.

Well, after running some numbers I've picked what I will do.....but I'm going to sleep on it. Under the new system a 2 day hopper (with a 14 day shelf life) is $164, including tax. ($10 more for unlimited life...but not necessary in my case) A CURRENT 4 day park hopper (no longer available for sale after 1/1/05), purchased in advance, is $215.13. My sister could pay for her two day usage ($108) and I'd have two days remaining. Pals from my high school (in Indiana) are planning a 'field trip' to Tampa in the spring (they all came here to Phoenix last year) and I could spend a couple of days at WDW (my AP doesn't expire till mid-April) and would have a two day hopper available for a playmate....one that only had cost me $108 and would have cost them $164 to buy in April. I know if I go with the convention ticket, come April I'll regret not doing in this way. I think this is what will work best for my circumstances. But will see what ideas a good night's sleep may bring!

These are my socks, too, Terry. For Canadians, I got mine at The Running Room, and would love another pair or two for Christmas....but since DH doesn't travel that way, I guess I'll have to pick them up for him. (and and you did an AWESOME job, yesterday, BTW)

I managed a 40 minute power walk between interviews last night, so I'm feeling pretty good about that. More interviews today. The first reports of grade one can be really hard on some parents. They seem to think that it is a parenting issue if little MarySue or Nickolas aren't quite ready for the academics. [sigh]

Have a good day, everyone. Just put one foot in front of the other. . . and soon you'll be walking out that do-o-or!

good morning all. i'm eating a small bowl of breakfast, small cup of international coffee and will be heading out the door in a litte over an hour for my 9 mile walk today. whewie, that sounds so far

i wish I had more ticket info that what I got. Andrew from the exhibitor conc. number returned my call and left me a message late wed. yesterday I called him back and he asked for my email for a link and he said "I think i'm going to make you popular among your group, I found your website to buy your marathon participant tickets" So I got the link, clicked on it and it was that same link I found on WWoS page a week or so ago. you know the one you put your "Team/Participant Name" in to enter. I put my name in and got the same dilemma of the date being wrong. So, now I reply to Andrew's email with that info and he say "I had tried your name to make certain that you could get in, but did not catch that! Good catch!

By clicking on the Guests Services tab at the bottom, it shows the number (407) 566-4985 for tickets. This office should be able to assist you with your needs, as they are specifically tied to the ticket/events office.

the number you had previously contact were more than likely the actual sports complex. Not necessarily linked to group ticket info.

Let me know if you continue to experience any challenges.

Good luck with the ticket and more importantly the race!"

Well I called the number and left a message. I think I'll reply to his email this morning that I tried yesterday, was on long-distance hold for quite awhile then left a message and no one returned my call. I'll wait until after my walk to see if anyone calls before 11 a.m.

i LOVE the transfers! Thank you thank you MaryEllen!!! btw -- i have a white shirt for whoever asked.

Good Friday Morning Everyone,

I haven't been exactly on schedule this week but yesterday I did get on the treadmill and try the "go at one speed, kick it up a notch and then go down a bit, go up etc. I found that the first speed I kicked it up to ended up being my cool down speed. Neat eh!!

The Canadian contingent that is related to me will be wearing white t-shirts because that's what I'm getting. I want all the lovely colours in that awesome logo to stand out well. I'm thinking I'll be wearing that t-shirt to the dinner on Saturday night. Well now I must get started here at work because when you go away on vacation your work is waiting for you when you come back home. I think I'm finally ahead of it and then month end came and now I have soooo much stuff to get ready for Christmas.

It's really cold and windy here today, but tomorrow it's supposed to be warmer. I hope so because I know I couldn't do my long walk with today's weather. I'd be using my inhaler every 10 minutes.

Have a super weekend everyone!!

hi and thanks for the new ticket info...although, I havent done the math it seems that if you want the same tickets you have used in the past, it will cost about the same...but it is nice to have options........
As far as my ticket dilemma, We decided that we will take or chances with my current (lost) tickets. Refreshing your memory........ I had 5 tickets lost four so I have been told by a few people that all I would have to do is take that one ticket to WDW guest relations, and they will reissue me new ones......... anyway I hope this is true, we have shortened our trip so that we may be able to spend more time with family so all inall, I will only be going to the parks one day which is what I have left on thsoe ticket ( and four options). Ill be going hopping friday and saturday, just relaxing and hopefully meeting you all at trails end, ( I could even use one of my options on that day ( if all goes well) and hit a WP, let the kids play and Ill lay in the sun. do the marathon sunday, wake up monday and go home.

I hope you guys work out your ticketing situations as well........

and I hope you all come to the trails end dinner...

Granny...... thanks for the info my the foot thing......that is interesting, I was glad to hear that if its not a big issue nothing needs to be done.
I realized however after I posted that that morning I had gotten my feet wet socks shoes and all during a huge rain fall, I happen to be at an appointment and had no choice but stay this way for about 3 hours. When I got home mty feet were hurting me then. It went away then I did the 2 hours on the mill ( which was afirst for ) I really pushed myself, I had only ever done an hour at the most.

anyway, I am off today to find coolmax and gonna experiment other sneakers.........

talk to you all soon.

Just popping in to say "have a good weekend" to everyone....I'm off to Disneyland! I took Monday off too, so I can do my long walk then and PROBABLY do some housework!

Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi everyone. As I posted the other day, Thurs and Fri are "rest days" because of other committments. Great job everyone! Terry ... WTG on yesterday's walk! You did awesome. And Lily ... have a great trip. We'll be thinking of you while you're at our most favourity place in the whole wide world! And Meme ... the logos are awesome. Since I want to wear my coolmax shirt for the actual race, I too will be wearing mine on Saturday night. And our own family had ones made up to wear post-race.

Need to do a long walk this weekend ... kind of counting on Debbie to motivate me into that ;) It's cold and windy here today ... oh wait, I guess that's just December!

Mary-Liz
