Well, we did it! DH and I signed up to run the WDW Marathon Relay in January. He has run a 1/2 once several years ago and I have never run farther than a 5K so should be fun! This will be our second adults only trip to Disney in a year (stayed at BC in 2/11) and I can't wait. We are staying in a studio at Kidani Village at AKV (I love renting DVC points). Anyway, this will be our 4th Disney trip in 12 months and I am looking for something different for us to do. Not super interested in any of the tours (not sure why...just not). Even something like a scavenger hunt, ride challenge, or drink around the world challenge....any ideas guys?

Hey! Same here! :cheer2: DH and I are doing the marathon relay. He's done several half-marathons and one full marathon before (and will have two under his belt by then). As for me, I do 5K's pretty regularly but I'm also the back of the pack. I'm working my way up to running more using the Galloway run-walk-run system as well as using Galloway's half marathon training plan. I did 7.5 miles last weekend, and with the heat, that was *not* fun. But, I did it.

As for activities, there's usually a few gatherings during marathon weekend with various fan groups. We're planning on doing dinner at Jiko as our special thing for that weekend, the night after the marathon. We also really want to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour, but we're not sure if I'll be up to it!

Anyways, feel free to PM me if you want to share progress and whatnot.

Thanks! I printed out a 10 week training plan from MarathonRookie.com and we are planning to use that, I think. In the last year, I have lost almost 70 lbs and DH over 30 so we are probably in the best shape of our lives. We recently completed the Insanity program (don't know if you have seen those infomercials or not), which is very cardiovascular based so we are in good shape there....it will just be putting in all those miles of running. We typically get up at 4 AM and work out for an hour or hour and a half in our basement while the kids sleep so it will be a challenge for us to find time to go on runs separately (I work about 65-80 hours/week and DH is a stay at home dad) but we will do it! I am very excited about this challenge...maybe when it gets a little closer, you and I can make a Pre-Trip report thread about our training and planning. Where are you staying? We changed our ressie to Boardwalk Villas but we had to waitlist the night of the 7th so hopefully that will come through. I think we are going to eat at Portobello the night before and La Hacienda the night after the marathon, but we may change. Anyway, thanks for the reply and good luck with your training! :thumbsup2

We haven't booked our hotel yet. We're still debating about whether to plan our touring for after the marathon or before and also how much bridge to do/play while we're there. We're going to be booking soon, though.
