Can anyone tell me how busy the Mara is for breakfast these days - it would be during the lower season (if there is such a thing these days- early December). Last time we sayed at AKL the villas had not been built yet. I am just wondering what their impact has on the food traffic patterns - tnx...

We were there in October, and Mara wasn't busy at all. We were able to order right away, and our food was ready shortly after that. It also wasn't busy during our trip at the end of May/beginning of June right after Kidani opened.

We were te4hre at the end of January, and never saw it crazily busy. We ate breakfast there almost every morning at 7am, and always had short lines and no issues getting tables.

We also had other various meals there at different times, and I was never in a line of more than 3 people.

At the Mara, they take your order and give you a pager that will buzz and light up when y our order is ready. While I waited for our order, I'd go get our drinks, pick out desserts and pay for the entire order. We'd set the utensils, drinks, etc up at the table, and usually as soon as we were done with that our pager would have gone off. VERY efficient.

To contrast, our last visits to Artists Palette at Saratoga Springs (2007 and early 2008) were awful. Fought for tables, lines that literally extended out the doors to the pool area. It was nightmare-ish every morning for breakfast. No matter what time you ate at.

It's usually not too bad. The Mara is designed to handle hordes of people, especially for breakfast before the parks open. The earlier you go, the easier it will be to order quickly and find a table. It becomes crowded between 8:15 and 9 a.m., when most guests wake up and prepare to head to the buses.

thanks all - that helps our decision on which resort to stay at - we are breakfast people ....

We have been 5 times since the villas opened. We LOVE breakfast too! :cool1: this past trip we had another family traveling with us and we used Garden Grocer and ordered coffee, juice, milk, muffins, fresh fruit, bagels, cheese, eggs, cream cheese, microwave bacon....etc. It was GREAT! A new twist for us as we usually use eat out. :cool1: Just a thought as another option...
