Mar 15, 2014 Fantasy Western ~ Spring break on the High Seas

Hi everyone! Just joined this board to squeak in on the FE group last night! This is our 2nd Disney cruise, with both on the Fantasy....our first one was a bit disappointing since our ship decided to chase Hurricane Sandy back to Florida. We only made it to one beach, and the last half of the week was dreary weather, no Disney island and crazy waves the last night! But with such incredible ships, it was still a fun time (just not what we'd imagined!).

My question is about the beaches: How do I find information about how to get to the beaches...I'm trying to figure out if there are close, accessible beaches near the port or if planning a Beach port excursion is best to get to a "better" beach, and possibly one without all the panhandling. The beach excursions for each island could get expensive. Both cruises, I find that info to be lacking on the DCL website. Thanks!

I also have a 10 yo daughter, our oldest. It sounds like this group has many girls in that age range! My twin boys have a built in bestie, so I don't worry about them as much. They also are more outgoing and make friends pretty easily. My daughter can be very shy in new situations. Last cruise, Disney paired us up with another family for dinner, with one daughter the same age. It was brilliant. They made instant friends and while I wasn't thrilled with sharing our table at first, it really worked out well!

Only 42 days! My family is finally getting as excited as I am! Fish extender is done, gifts are ready, online documents are in, passports came, I just need to get to some warmth and sunshine! Can't wait til we board!

My daughter is 10 as well and would love to meet someone her age. This is our third cruise and the second on the fantasy.

Bonschlarb and hannahandelimom, if you haven't joined the Facebook group yet, you should. There are a bunch of 10/11 year old girls in this group. I put together a list over there of ones that are interested in making contact before the cruise and getting to know one another so that they would have friends to hang out with one the ship. My daughter is one of the 11 year olds. I was planning to have her look this weekend at the list and interests to see who she'd like to try contacting.

I haven't joined the FB group, but should. My daughter will be 3 months shy of 11 and I think it would be nice if she connected with someone close to her age. The last time we sailed she was 9 and didn't really care for the clubs. I'm hoping having a friend might make it more appealing.

My daughter also. She is 3 months shy of 11 when we cruise. I haven't joined the FB group because I really just don't do FB. Are you planning on going to the meeting on day one? Maybe our girls can meet up. You can PM me if you are interested. My daughter didn't care for the club the last time we were on the Fantasy either. But I am sure would be better if she made friends with someone.

Thanks! I have joined the FB group and saw the list of girls. I'm sure we'll be contacting some soon. But, we are definitely planning to do the meet and greet on Day 1. How do you PM on this board?

Ours arrived yesterday...
It's officially ON!
We leave for FL in exactly 4 weeks from today... Can't wait to get out of this winter hell..

You got yours yesterday? I didn't get any mail, might have been because of the weather. Maybe it will be waiting for me when I get home from work. :cool1:

lol...yeah i think it's the snow...I saw the mail man yesterday walking away after he delivered the mail in the box..he wasn't too happy about having to walk thru the snowbank leading to our mail box.. I said "thanks for the mail" , he shots back with a stare, no answer. lol.. I almost said, dude, I can't keep up with this snow..

Seriously, this snow and the waiting for this trip is driving me nutz..
Hope it goes fast...

see ya on board in a few weeks...:yay:

:cool1:

This is going to be our first cruise. We are so ready to get away from this cold weather. We have 2 children g/b 9/7 (trip is no secret). Looking forward to the experience.

Can anyone verify the rates to send and receive texts while on the ship? My husband needs to stay in touch with work, without the temptation of having internet access to actually work. Would texting be the best option or would we be better off buying internet service and relying on email?
Thanks!!!:badpc:

Hi, just wondering if any of you frequent disney cruisers could answer my question. If you re-book while on board how big is the discount? And is there always a room credit as well as a discount? Do you have to know what week you want to book or can you just pick a week and then change?
QUOTE=disneycrazy2004;47028933]Thank you,you should see my license plate :) We are very excited about the Mediterranean, we are hoping to do back to back cruise there, but not there yet. I am thinking of trying to re-book on board to get the discount and room credit, we'll see.....

My Three Boys,

On board booking gives you a 10% discount, reduced deposit (for 7 night cruises) and a stateroom credit. You must pick a date to book, but you can change it, as long as the new date is within 18 months of your original sail date. Also, as of last November, certain sailings are blacked out for on board booking discounts.

Hope this helps! ;)

Hi Everyone,
I want to start making my FE hanger (5 in the family, so 5 pockets) and I wanted to know if someone could give me the dimensions of how wide and how long I should have it. Like I said above, I need to have 5 pockets. Thanks:)

This Disboard thread is pretty dead. I was wondering why there wasn't much activity. Then I logged into the Facebook group today. OMG! There is a ton of activity, event planning, logo making, etc. happening there.

If you have posted questions here, I would suggest that you ask the FB group.
