Map/Cart Question

So I was on the Disney website, maybe even my Disney experience and looking at a interactive Map of the whole Disney compound. I zoomed in on the campgrounds and was looking around and noticed the road that goes by the Settlement/Trails End Rest. area keeps going and heads towards the Wilderness lodge. My question is can you take a cart from there to the Wilderness lodge? Is there a gate that the Map just was not showing?

There is not a gate, but carts are not allowed to be driven to WL. I cannot remember the exact wording of the signs, but there are signs indicating something along the lines of WDW authorized vehicles or no golf carts beyond this point. I know I saw both at different times while at FW, but I am not specific of where when I saw them.

I know one of the signs was near a golf cart parking area basically diagonal from the Settlement bus stop once you turned left off of Fort Wilderness Trail, instead of going straight across as if you were going to the marina. I parked there when I walked over to WL one morning and then took the bus back.

You can bike or walk to the WL on that road.

This is correct. We have walked it several times, and there is also a paved path you can walk or bike on as well. The road is marked as Disney authorized only. It is quiet and we saw a lot of wildlife along it including deer, turkey, and several herds of squirrels.
