I wanted to say thanks to all those who made our trip to DL a great addition to our tour of southern CA. I have found these boards to be extremely helpful and feel we are able to get more out of our trips because of it!

I posted about a week before I left '1st time to Disneyland for WDW vet' and received many responses. Much thanks!

We decided to save some cash and stayed off site at the HoJo across the street with a AAA rate ($68). The room was clean, the fridge was a nice addition and the pools were nice to take a break in. We ate next door at Mimis for lunch the day we arrived and it was good, similar to an applebees.

Gates opened at 8 (we were there at 730) and the park closed at 11 (we were just leaving then). We bought a one day park hopper pass ($69, non southern CA rate) and were able to accomplish quite a bit. It was very helpful knowing with FP machines were disconnected. We were able to do Splash Mountain twice, PoC, Haunted Mansion, Roger Rabbit, Matterhorn, IASM, Storybook, Indiana Jones, JC. We took a break for lunch and took the monorail to ESPN zone and then returned to California Adventure. We went on ToT, saw Aladdin show, Muppets 3D, SoC, and Grizzly River Run. We again took a break for dinner and grabbed a pizza from Mari's (I think that is what it was called) and went back to the hotel room for a quick break. We went back to California adventure for the electrical parade, then did some shopping and then saw the fireworks and Fantasmic at DL.

It was a very tiring day, but well worth it. Having gone to WDW a handful of times, it was nice to see where it all started. SoC was a personal favorite for me, and my DH really enjoyed Indiana Jones. We loved PoC! The lines were decent (I have seen much worse at WDW, like Presidents week) and having a plan for the fast pass system worked well. We are headed back to WDW in October and it will be fun to compare the two again. I know we missed half of California Adventure, but we were able to do the rides/shows that we wanted.

Again, much thanks for all the tips and suggestions so that we could get the most out of our trip out west to DL!!

:D
