I will be going to seaworld for the first time in September. I will be attempting to ride manta and kraken alone as the other people in my group cannot do coasters.

I have been on both the red and blue dragons in the front row at IOA and Hulk in the front row. I was fine on both of them except I didn't like the head banging on Hulk and got a terrible headache afterwards. How do Manta and Kraken compare? Are they much scarier? Are either of them very rough like Hulk?

From what I can remember, they are both pretty smooth, and if you can handle the IOA coasters then you can handle these both, I ADORE Manta!:lovestruc The sensation when you go through the first half loop is amazing, best coaster in Orlando!:thumbsup2

I've been on The Dragon one at IOA and Manta. I can't do coasters like Hulk or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster that have launches - I get a splitting headache from them. Anyway, I loved Manta! I found it to be very smooth and exhilarating. I preferred it to Dragon Challenge. DC was good, but it left me a little queasy.

DH and the boys have been on all of them, so I will try to get their opinions later when they are home.

Kraken is a lot more intense than Dragon Challenge but less than Hulk. There is no launch on Kraken. For coaster lovers, Kraken is great!! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2DS12 would like to say that he completely agrees with this statement.:thumbsup2

He also says that he considers Hulk the most intense of all of them, but that he thinks it is hard to compare Manta to the other coasters because it is so different. He says it is not that scary unless you don't like the feeling of flying or the feeling of lying straight on your stomach.

Great, thanks everyone. I am more nervous that I'm going alone. I usually have someone go that is equally as nervous as me. They aren't coming this trip. There is 0% that anyone else in my group will attempt these. I think I will still try them though.

Hulk has gotten much rougher over the years,if you ride it today compared to when it opened it just feels like a different ride. The Dragons are awesome and just as good as when they opened.Kraken is way smooth and one if my favorite coasters in any Orlando park.Manta is a lot of fun and a different experience but watch out for the pretzel loop, the g forces literally take your breath away,I've been on over 100 coasters and the pretzel loop on B&M flyers like this one and Superman at Six Flags in Atlanta are a maneuver I can only handle once or twice a day.Aside from that section of Manta I find most of these coasters similar in intensity,I feel you have to ride each one to see how well you handle it,for example Kumba at Busch Gardens is also a similar coaster in intensity but for some reason I bump my head on the restraints more than other coasters so I'll only do it once or twice a day,on the other hand Sheikra which has a 200 foot 90 degree drop at 70 mph has easily the most intense drop of any coaster in Florida. Many people probably don't like that drop but I could easily ride that coaster all day,Kraken is another coaster I could easily ride all day,I feel like I'm on a Lay Z Boy at 60 mph on that ride.

Just did Sea World yesterday for the first time since the coasters were added - loved both Manta & Kraken! If you can handle Hulk & the Dragons, you can definitely do these. My head hit the sides a little on Kraken but Manta wasn't a problem at all. I rode Manta 3 times - the time we were in the front row was the best as far as smoothness goes. It definitely is a different sensation than anything I've been on as it feels like you're flying. Just make sure you are there first thing in the morning, otherwise Manta's lines were pretty long. Kraken was much better crowd-wise. What stinks is that unlike Universal, they don't have a single rider line... that would have definitely worked in your favor. Have a great time!

Is there a way for someone who doesn't want to ride to get out of line? Can they accompany me in the line and then leave before the ride for both Manta and Kraken. Otherwise it's going to be a boring wait as a single rider.

Yes there is. I've done it a few times. I'm the type of person that can do each coaster once before feeling sick. But other people in my group have wanted to go again. So I stay with them in line until they get to the ride and then just cross over to the exit area when they get on the ride. Also if there are people who don't want to wait in line, there is a very cool aquarium located at Manta that riders and non riders can enjoy. They could wait for you to exit the ride there. On Kraken, there is a small little eel exhibit (If you want to call it that) nothing big but members of your group could hang out there or ofcourse they could always watch you ride the coasters.
