Mansions vs AB

I'm wondering which is better for adults? It'll be DS21 and myself for 8 days so we're both taking a large suitcase plus a backpack each. I haven't booked my room yet, I wanted to get opinions on which would be better. I've read that AB has less storage than the mansions. I particularly don't want to be living out of my suitcase for 8 days if there isn't ample dresser space. I prefer the look of AB and convenience of being close to the lobby.

Your thoughts?

I was in Mansions last week - we had both a king room and a room with 2 queens. There was a dresser with 3 good-sized drawers and a refrigerator inside, nightstands with a small drawer and open storage underneath (I didn't pay too much attention in the queen room, I am guessing there was only one in there. In the bathroom is a large open closet area about 6 feet long, with a shelf from end to end - I think ours had about 15 hangers, maybe a little less. The double sink area has a large shelf underneath, and a ledge under the mirror. There was a decent-sized round table and 2 chairs in each room. There was a 4 to 5 foot padded bench in each room.

The building/room we were in was maybe 5 minutes to the main pool, and then 5 more to the food court (leisurely pace). It was convenient, but in the August heat, the food court was not someplace we'd venture to in the middle of the day. We were a lot closer to the main areas than quite a few of the AB buildings.

We've stayed in bldg 15 in AB a few times. Now it's priced at a preferred rate. I liked it because I just had to cross the parking lot and there was a short path directly to the covered bus stops, which were right next door to the main bldg. The gift shop had an outside entry door right there, too. So for food court, mug refills, gift shop, bus to parks, etc., bldg 15 it was a good location. There was also a quiet pool nearby with laundry. Loved that area of AB. If you like Mansions, looks like Magnolia Terrace bldg is directly in front of the bridge that goes across to Ol' Man Island and then the main bldg. The mansion bldgs are big, and have elevators. Walking to your room can take some time once you reach the bldg. Not preferred price.

Just for reference - now that POOHsie included a map, we were in Acadian 82 - our room overlooked the courtyard and fountain (the circle you see in the middle of the U-shaped building). I also should mention that it was very close to the north depot bus stop in addition to reasonable walks to the main pool, and main building.

Do either of you know how the storage situation is in either rooms? I would like to be in AB so what concerns me is that darn murphy bed. I've read that the dressers in those rooms are smaller. So my main question is will 2 adults with 2 large suitcases for 8 days with of clothing, be able to be comfortable in there without having to live out of our suitcases?

Not all AB rooms have the Murphy bed. request a room that DOESN'T have one. The storage is the same in both mansions and AB rooms without the Murphy bed.

You should be fine, either way.

We were in room 18 and I thought that the walk was much less than had we been in the mansions. I really liked AB much better in person than I expected, the interior looks cheaper in photos, imo.

You should be fine, either way.

All of the AB rooms with queen beds have the Murphy bed. We stayed in building 26 in 2012. We are a family of 4 and had no problems with storage.

Wow! I didn't realize that all AB ROOMS NOW HAVE THE MURPHY BEDS!

ThT is very sad news. I guess that we will have to stay in the mansions from now on!

Sorry, OP, that DOES reduce storage quite a bit. Have you tried packing cubes? They make living out of a suitcase less of a hassle.

When we went, in 2012, we stayed in AB. We had a Murphy bed. We had no dresser or anywhere to put our stuff. They might have changed things since then. We were 4 in the room. Me, my hubby, 13yo daughter, and 9yo son. It was cramped. But we loved AB! It is so beautiful.

We are 2 adults who have 2 suitcases on each trip and have stayed in both AB and the mansions and have had no issues with storage. Never had to live out of our suitcases. We much preferred AB due to the quiet and atmosphere of the area. It made for a further walk but being that we are 2 adults we enjoyed the stroll through the grounds each day.

Thanks! AB just appeals to me more and looks more like my speed. It's good to hear that there is good storage!
