Manly Minnie Mouse at MK today?

Saw the strangest thing (person) in MK today. We were leaving about 4:30pm and sitting on the curb at the flagpole circle there was a man in his 20's dressed up like Minnie Mouse.

Now, I don't mean Minnie ears...this guy had on short white bloomers, Minnie's polka dot dress and a big red polka dot bow in his hair and nothing else. :rotfl2: We paused and another young woman said "I like your dress". He was just sitting there by himself. It was weird and a little creepy!

I asked my friend if we should say something to a security cast member and we debated a few minutes as we walked under the train station. At the base of the station was a group of about 4 cast members looking at the guy and commenting on his costume. They agreed it was creepy and said they had alerted security. As we watched he got up and sauntered down Main Street. We never saw anyone catch up with him.

Just wondering if anyone else saw our hairy Minnie Mouse and also wondering how he got into the park? He didn't have a bag with him that would have held the costume. Just weird.

Now that's people watching at it's best

Ewwwwwwwwww. It takes a lot to render me speechless, but I'm thinking that would about do it.

Yeah... that's really disturbing. Idk how I would have reacted, lol. I know my very outspoken little boys would have said something along the lines of, "Mama, why is that hairy man dressed like Minnie Mouse?", lol. People can be so odd . I am also wondering how he got into the park ?? So weird.

Maybe he lost a bet! :rotfl:

I wouldn't have been bothered by him, personally. It's just a costume, and all the relevant bits were covered (thank goodness!). On the other hand, Disney has a rule about adults dressing up as characters during non-Halloween party days, don't they? So I expect Security probably caught up with him eventually and asked him to change - just as they would have if he was an adult woman dressing as Sleeping Beauty.

Actually that is so weird it is a little scary. What kind of man would do that ?

Probably got through the turnstiles and changed in the restroom or something. Wouldn't surprise me! People are ingenious.

.

We thought that, too. He wasn't bothering anyone or interacting with other guests.

Thanks for letting me tell someone :thumbsup2 Who else would understand and be curious if not for my fellow DISers?

Still wondering if they caught up with him, though or if he made it to the castle and won his bet. :crazy2:

OMG ... Dd saw him at animal kingdom yesterday. This was late morning, between Africa ad Asia.

I have a feeling that it's ok to be dressed up so long as you aren't interacting with other guests.
My fam dressed as pirates all day in MK back in April and no one bothered us. Actually a lot of CM's complimented us...
But then again, I was accosted by HS security dressed as Snow White one year when we had dinner reservations at Brown Derby before MNSSHP... But they said that was because people wanted to get pictures with me.

I have the feeling it's really NOT ok. But maybe for whatever reason, those particular CMs just did not want to deal with it.

What is the best way to dress for a day at the parks? Is there any clothing that isn't permissible?

The parks are a casual, family-oriented environment. We suggest you dress comfortably, wear good walking shoes and check the local weather report before you leave for the parks.

Ensuring that the parks are family friendly is an important part of the Disney experience. In that spirit, we ask you to use your discretion and common sense. Attire that is not appropriate for the theme parks (and which may result in refusal of admittance) includes but is not limited to:

Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character

A Guest is allowed into the parks if her or his hair (or make-up, if applicable) has been made to resemble a Disney Princess or character (for example, after a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover) provided the Guest is not also wearing a costume or clothed to look like the character.

So... as long as the gentleman is not wearing an "adult" AKA sexy version of Minnie's dress (and it doesn't sound as if he is), and as long as he won't be mistaken for an actual Disney character, it's possible Disney staff may decide to let him be.

That would also explain why a pirate family is okay (no chance of confusion), but being an adult princess in full hair and dress could get you in trouble.

Technically, there's nothing that's not "family-friendly" about cross-dressing. Kids will naturally think it's weird (and maybe hilarious) to have a boy dressed up as a girl, but it's only really adults who get completely freaked out by it. And girls dressing as boys (say, in full tux, or even in Mickey Mouse button pants) are always A-OK.

No, the policy says no costumes at unless 10 and under.

The deal is that enforcement is pretty hit and miss. I think they probably let a lot of pirates get by because of people going to the Pirate's League.

Yeah most of what I see says that adults can't represent actual Disney characters.
I'm now wondering about the Minnie mouse skirt that I bought. It's just a red skirt with with dots but I was planning to wear it with a black t and ears. Sigh.

I'm sort of wondering the same thing. I got a very cute red dress with little white polka dots that I was going to wear with black mary janes for a day at the MK. I have cute little ears that I was considering wearing with it, but would that make it be considered a costume? I sort of feel like a Minnie-themed outfit wouldn't count, as Minnie isn't a face character, so there's no way a woman dressed in a similar outfit could be mistaken for the official Disney "Minnie" costume complete with big head. You know?
