Hi all,
I don't know on which board I read it, but someone was looking for a good Manhattan hotel to travel to with her teens. I've stayed in another hotel, close to the Milford which we liked, but I've read from a few people that they liked the Milford. Here's a deal that was just emailed to me if you want to check it out:

Thank you so much. I just made a reservation. This saved me $100 compared to the reservation I was holding at the Comfort Inn.

Okay you say you didn't stay here, so do you know people who did?? I am taking DD and 2 friends in December for her 16th. and I want the parents to know that I really did research the hotel. Some of the reviews were downright awful. (I know you can't please everyone, and actually I just need a clean bed and tv to fall asleep to.. Oh yeah I have to shower also:rotfl2:0:rotfl2:)

I've heard horrible things about the Milford Plaza. But when I was in that area a few weeks back, there was all sorts of scaffolding & large banners stating that they were undergoing a complete renovation of the building & furnishings. Maybe it's better now?:confused3

I just checked out their website and it all looks nice to me...If I needed to stay in Manhattan, based on those pics, I'd book a room there. I did read reviews on Tripadvisor.com (I love that site) and they mostly said the same thing: Not the best looking, it's small but it's right in the middle of the mix and it's a great price.
And if you're just going to need a place to park yourself while you sleep, why not? Especially because it is so inexpensive and right in the middle of Manhattan.
Tink, by the time your daughter's birthday rolls around, they should have completed some of the reservations. When you call for a reservation, if this is the place you decide to stay at, I would request a Newly Refurbished room, and then I would call back once a month to make sure the reservation clearly states that, and then call again before you go to make sure they've got you down for a new room.
BTW, if you're looking for an awesome Italian dinner, La Mela's in Little Italy is our favorite. It's served family style so you pay a certain price per person. It's deeeeeliciouso! Also, my BF's sister owns a restaurant down there called Destino (www.destinony.com)
Let me know how you guys do :)

I've never stayed there, but I did look and the website won't let you book a room for more than 2 people. I didn't read the trip advisor reviews... is it that small?:confused3

The Best Hotel in Times Square is the Doubletree Suites especially if you need a little extra space - 2 rooms, sleep 6, fridge and microwave, great breakfast buffet and awesome service. Definitely worth the extra $$.

But if you just need a room to crash in - doesn't matter too much - just bring lysol and ear plugs!

Yeah, after reading the reviews I’m thinking I’ll cancel. It doesn’t sound totally horrible, but certainly not nice. Pretty sad when you can only get a fleabag hotel for $189! Plus it sounds like my stay might be in the middle of the renovations (I'm going in six weeks). I plan to use Priceline anyway but probably won’t be successful with that until closer to the trip. So I just wanted to have a back-up reservation.

I just figured I'd throw it out there:goodvibes
Instead of driving back home like we normally do after the Thanksgiving Day Parade, we decided to stay the night. I can't remember the name right now, but we had two rooms and they were both clean and spacy. I'll try to remember the name. It was right down the block from the Marriott Marqui and it was very inexpensive.....
Found it...... www.broadwayinn.com

We got a great deal last summer at the Hotel Mela, it's a new boutique hotel right off Times Square. I think we paid $169 (great deal off Travel Zoo but there were decent deals on their website as well)...anyway the rooms like most in NYC are small but it was clean, chic, and convenient:

Just becareful if you priceline NYC. There are a lot of rooms that only sleep 2 people (like 1 double bed). Priceline does not guarentee the room will sleep more than 2 people. (Check out betterbidding and biddingfortravel).... they have great advise on NYC hotels.

That being said, I havent stayed at the Milford Plaza, but have heard its ok (not the greatest). We live only an hour away and havent stayed in the city in several years.

I'm a former flight attendant, and we used to layover at the Mildew... ummmm.... I mean the Milford Plaza. The rooms are hit and miss. They are small and such and generally clean, but there is a reason crew members gave it the name "The Mildew Plaza."
