Day 2
Monday 7th June ~ High 91F
I was awake really early today, so I got showered and dressed and checked out our photopass photos on-line and added borders etc.
We left the room around 8.30am and headed to Disney Hollywood Studios for normal 9am opening. We got FastPasses for Tower of Terror and joined the RockNRollerCoaster line. As always, RnRc was great, and then we rode ToT by joining the standby line. We were pleased to have the new drop sequence that had been added, but the first change we noticed was when the ride goes up to the next floor, when the door opens there is a flash to the right, you then ride up to the next floor where all around is all starry, then you come to the doors of the lift shaft and a photo appears (the flash on the floor below was taking a photo that is projected onto the doors), well the new drop sequence was brilliant with lots of drops (the normal ride photo is taken as before)
Anyway, we got off ToT and our FP time had arrived, so we went back on again
When we got off the ride it began to rain, then moments later it poured down. When it stopped we had some Photopass photos taken, and then we left the park and headed to Wal-Mart for some suntan lotion, water and Mountain Dew
We had arranged a late check out of The Poly (1pm), so once we finished packing we got in the car and drove to Port Canaveral, just stopping briefly at Best Buys so Paul could buy a flashgun for his camera, and then we carried on our way to Port Canaveral
The journey went very quick, and it was rather weird not seeing those gleaming red stacks of the Disney Wonder in the distance as we neared the port
We checked into the Country Inn and Suites, and after a quick Skype with the girls, we had a sunbathe by the pool
(I'll be so glad when my photo settings are put right for tomorrows pics, as it's hard to believe by this photo what a beautiful sunny day it was)
The hotel was really nice, though it was strange that it didn't have a proper restaurant or bar (not that this bothered us this time). We had a suite and it was $88 for the night and we could have a complimentary breakfast, free internet access and we could've left our car there for the duration of our cruise (which we chose not too, as we once off the ship we wanted to get back to DHS and to the final SWW day)
After our sunbathe we got back in the car and went off to explore, so we drove towards Cocoa Beach. First stop was the Ron Jon's store where Paul bought a shirt, t-shirt & belt, and I got some jewellery for Kerry, Becky and myself
We had a wander along the pier where lightning was going off in the distance (as hard as we tried we just couldn't get any shots of the spectacular storm going off)
We were getting hungry now, so we stopped at Grills which is a restaurant along the estuary at Port Canaveral and where you can normally see the cruise ships passing by
We had a lovely meal. We shared onion rings and chicken wings with dips and for our mains I had Grilled Tropical Chicken Kabobs and Paul had Filet Steak all washed down with a couple of tropical sounding cocktails for me (Tiki Tango & a Summer Breeze) and a couple of Heinekens for Paul. We really enjoyed our meal here, and will definitely eat here again if we get the chance
We got back to the hotel around 9ish and I was straight to bed as I was shattered and I knew we were having a very early wake-up call in the morning
Tomorrow ~ Up at stupid o'clock and 'Welcome aboard the Disney Wonder the Martindale Family'
