We stayed at Boulder Ridge a few months ago. We did a work stay vacation, since we both work from home. Everyday, we were rudely interrupted by house clearing telling us they needed to enter the room for a security check. I say rudely because they would not even wait for a response to try to enter the room. Anyway, they told me that they had to come into the room and check it, whether we wanted to or not. I asked where in the bylaws, rulest, etc it stated that they had to come into 'my home' and they would not give me a source, they just said it was there and I had to look for it.

Has anyone experienced this at any DVC resort?

Is there language in any DVC documentation that states anything of the sort?

This has been the policy at all Disney hotels (not just DVC resorts) since the Mandalay Bay shooting in 2017.

When you agree to stay at the DVc resort, you agree to the rules and regulations for being an onsite Disney guest.

It’s part of the policy for Disney as the property manager and so we are required to comply.

That is why the sign no longer says Do Not Disturb. You can always talk to the manager of the front desk to set up a more convenient time outside id work hours.

I know some who have done that..for napping children…and adults!

Not sure if it is human trafficking they're looking for, or some sort of weaponry. But as a previous poster said, it has been implemented at every Disney resort, and likely any tourist destination nation-wide. I've heard that hotel liability insurance policies require it after Mandalay Bay reached an $800 MILLION settlement with victims and survivors after the shooting.

The confirmation email you receive when making a reservation clearly says it:

Please note that Disney Resort hotel Cast Members visually inspect every room for maintenance, safety, security and other purposes daily. As part of this daily inspection, Cast Members also will remove trash bags as an enhanced service for Disney Vacation Club Members (Members have historically received limited trash removal based on the length of their stay at Disney Vacation ClubResorts). Cast Members who arrive at an inconvenient time for your room’s inspection will happily arrange an alternate inspection time.

I also do some stays where I work. It's never been an issue for me, when they knock I just open the door for them and continue working while they do their thing.

How come people don’t use the privacy latch? They can’t come in if you engage the privacy latch.
Usually because someone in the party is not in the room (park, jog, pool, meeting, etc). Should they make a back up plan to call to be let in the room? Yes (and that goes double for afternoon hours at Disney!), but it’s weird because it’s not something a normal person would think of- unless they had been barged in on before.

I have never stayed at a non-Disney hotel that did room checks.

It's odd this is coming up again. It has been this way for years since the Las Vegas incident, and I have seen this policy in effect at all Hyatt and Marriott hotels and more. Usually, it is part of daily housekeeping.

At Disney DVC, it is the reason a daily trash empty was started. I have never had them "barge in" but if there is no answer to their knock and you did not engage the safety latches, yes, they will enter just as housekeeping would in any hotel. Use your safety latch, and answer when they knock. I am always able to say "come back in an hour" or whatever.

Did you have "room occupied" sign out?

I understand they can enter regardless of a "room occupied" sign, but not sure if the sign impacts how long they wait to enter or if they will note to come back later (the first time), etc

Yes. We stay at a lot of hotels and it only happens at Disney.
For example (outside of Disney) The front desk called once because we had the do not disturb sign up for 2 days in a row and housekeeping wanted to clean the room (we weren't in the room much and didn't need daily maid service, so kept the DND sign up). They didn't enter until we agreed to take the DND sign down.

yes, they will still knock, but won't wait until you give them the permission go ahead to enter. If you have the latch on , obviously they can't come in, but they will still wake everyone up or interrupt your meeting.

Maybe, that is why Disney resorts are only 4 stars. lol
