Managing two contracts different resorts, same UY

Addonitis. So if I decide to buy direct in a different resort, I was thinking to get 60 points to book every other year in a studio and with my main contract every other year in a 1BR.

Im not sure how to handle the extra spare points. If I end up rebooking something completely different at 7 months, how do I make sure I use all the right use year points from each contract? If I keep the 11 month reservation, how do I reallocate. I do not want to have unused points like I do this year.

Heres an example. I have 27 2021 points I am banking into December 2022 giving me 137 to use. If I buy a December direct contract, I would bank 60 points and have 120 to use. If I book a studio at the new contract home resort, that’s 115. Id do it at 11 months and use all the new points, but at 7 months I’d want to reallocate and use the 27 2021 points not to lose them. Ultimately, I would want to use the 87 banked points first and part of the 170 regular points and bank the rest into 2023 UY.
Is this something I can do online myself? Do I need member services? Is it different if I switch to a different resort at 7 months?
Im wondering if I should buy direct at the same resort, so I don’t have this problem. Of course, I’ll still have the “can’t book at Riviera with some of my points” but I wonder if I should t just buy more of the same resort resale and transfer or rent for Riviera when I want.

You can only reallocate points in a reservation made during the home resort booking period if availability for the exact room category still exists at 7 months.

Assuming that it does exist, you can do it online. Just modify the existing 11-month reservation without changing dates or room type. When it comes to choosing contracts to use, your home resort will be locked in as the first choice but you can check off the non-home resort contract as well. Then just complete the modification process. It will appear as if the banked points from contract #2 are not being touched but when you complete the modification and check the points summary on the final page, you will see that the banked points from contract #2 were indeed taken.

There is one slight issue that could arise. If the available studio night(s) you plan to book at 7 months is less than 27 points, the system will only use the number of banked points from contract #2 that cover the available night(s).

Hm. Ive been trying for value 1br at akv at 11 months, so I wouldnt be able to do that? Of course, if I get more points, I can book Savannah and won’t need value any more…

Decisions decisions.

So if I switch resorts, no problem?
Switching to a non-home resort is not a problem at 7 months. At 7 months, a point is a point regardless of its home resort. The only obstacle is availability.

To add, you don’t mention when you bought your current contract but if it was resale after 2019, those points would not be good at RIV even though your new points would be.

Yep. That’s why I am considering buying direct. For double points (December UY) and to stay at Riviera every other year.
