I guess that's one IPod shuffle down the drain..Washed AND dried.... UGh

A lot of electronics will work after they have thoroughly dried out and weren't on at the time they got wet. Give it about a week and try it before giving up hope.

Is it still under waranty? I was shocked when ds cracked the inside of his by rolling over on it- and we brought it in and they gave us a new one! It was under a year old. Also they will give you 10% off a new ipod if you bring an old one in- (not that I would buy him another one... but just in case you are a nicer mom than I am)

I got it from the Virgin Records store at DTD..I wonder if it is under warranty

I agree, let it dry and it may work. I washed and dried DS's cell phone TWICE and it came back to life both times after a week or so. The last dip into the pool did it in though.

I washed my dd ipod nano after she left it in her pocket.

DO THIS:

DO NOT TOUCH IT AT ALL. LEAVE IT ALONE AND DON'T BE TEMPTED TO TURN IT ON/OFF OR PLAY WITH IT IN ANY WAY. LEAVE IT ALONE.

After not touching it and just looking at it for 12 days, she turned it on and it worked. At first there was a type of rainbow on the screen, but, after a few weeks even that went away.

She went to the apple website and reset it to its original state and it works like new.

Even under warrenty, they will not cover it if it got wet. Even if you tell them that it didn't get wet, when they open it up, they can tell.

Believe me, leave it alone and don't touch it for awhile, no matter how temptng it is to fidget with it.

We're going to expect an entry from you on the Bad Parents thread, missy.

Got that one beat-ds is on his THIRD Ipod Nano. the first one the screen stopped working-it was just out of warranty but Apple replaced it. The second on HE left in his pants and washed it HIMSELF. He is currently on # 3-all of them he bought with his won money. Hope he takes care of this one:rolleyes:

you may want to check out the apple website IF it turns out that it is totally dead. sometimes they sell shuffles (refurbished) for $29.00

I have washed and dried numerous game cartridges for GameBoy and Nintendo DS and they have surprisingly worked afterward. And their components are so exposed. These things are so darn small that they are bound to go in the wash!

Do what the above posters say and give it a rest, it just might work.

I know with cell phones they can open it up and look for a "dot" that changes color when it gets wet, I'm betting they use something like this too.
Hope it dries out for you.

Ackk!!! I hope you can get it working again!

:) May sound crazy, but put it in a bowl of uncooked rice for a couple of days. That will draw any remaining moisure out. Learned that trick from my Daddy...

I washed my DH's shuffle. We left it alone for a few days and then tired it.

It has been working fine ever since!! I even washed the headphones and those work too, though not as good as before (which really isn't saying much).

I washed DW'a nano. We had purchased a replacement warranty, so we got a new one. At that point, we checked the old one, and it was working again. So we have two.

It just takes time.

Keep all electronics away from JennyMominRI--she lost a cell phone, did something to the lens of her digital camera (just saw that post) and now the ipod. What a week.

Keep us informed as to what happens....

Just blame the camera on the kids too. You know the ipod thing really is your sons fault. How many times do you have to tell them to check their pockets before putting things in the hamper (I know you do this, all moms do). If that doesnt work, blame the dog--do you have a dog:rotfl:
