This is the weirdest case of identity theft ever...

(excuse WFTV's editing department for the loud news theme that aired during the story, it was on WFTV's end)

I don’t know that it’s the weirdest though. There have been news stories for years about criminals committing crimes using stolen identities. I think this one was picked up by the media because of the Disney connection, but it could have just as easily happened if he dropped his license by accident at a bar or restaurant anywhere.

The sad part is that it took so long for someone to actually look at his proof that he wasn’t present at the time of the crime.

Not odd at all that an Orlando TV station did a story on a cluster than happened in Orlando. Especially since the victim contacted the station. I bet other Orlando TV stations saw WFTV's story and did their own versions.

Music may not have been an editing issue. I suspect the person on the Digital side who uploaded it didn't pay attention to the audio levels. Music is usually on a different channel than the narration. Most digital producers have no editing training.

Prosecutors & Carmax should be ashamed of themselves to do this to an innocent person, bad look for both of them. What if this person couldn't afford the lawyer? Reputation ruined for life? Poor guy just minding his business and life upended.

I've known countless people who have lost their license, it's not like a credit card where you can report it and pause it immediately but maybe if the law is going to act this way the law should safeguard us like credit cards do with a temporary hold type option just like credit cards. totally shameful
