This guy in my neighborhood has been walking his rotweiler, without a leash (there's a leash law in our town) for the past few weeks. He, as well as his dog, walk right across our lawn. His dog keeps pooping on the lawn. I was leaving for work this morning and I saw it again. Stopped and asked him to please stop doing it. He says "I didn't see the dog do it". Then he says "Bad dog".

Hello idiot - It's your fault, not the dog's.

What should I do if I don't know where he lives?

I'd start a little "collection" and the next time you see him and the dog walk across your lawn present him with the gifts that you saw his dog "do"!:scared1:

I like the idea of presenting him with a gift of his dog's poop, also, if your at home and you see the man and his dog on your lawn, turn on the sprinklers. That should send them running.

I was thinking about that. Either that or following him home and putting it on his lawn.

Seriously, how could someone be so disrespectful and ignorant?

I hate that! We have 2 dogs and would never leave something behind. When I had someone doing that on my grass- every day my lawn! I ran out with a bag and handed it to her and said" Oh I see you must have forgotten to bring your bag here you go." and handed it to her. She looked at me kind of shocked and said "oh I didn't know to pick it up I used to walk here before the house were here and and she would just go..." I said"well there are houses here now. and we pick up after our dogs." She never came back! LOL I guess she was above picking up dog poop!
Good luck! You could always report him on the leash law violation.......*but get ready for a fight......
oops and I forgot when my behind neighbor was letting his dog run up into my backyard and poop- I grabbed a shovel and went out and threw it onto his lawn....*boy I am a barrel of laughs as a neighbor eh? He also got the message. Come on! pick up the poop!

Just called Animal Control. As soon as I mentioned the name of the street, he asked "beige rotweiler?".

Apparently, we're not the only one who's complained. Said he knows where the guy lives, has had problems with him in the past, and will be paying hima visit this afternoon.:thumbsup2

Keep a camera handy to snap a picture if you see him again. Document the call to animal control also.

The other thing you can do is make up some signs, or buy them, letting all know that you have put down 'harmful lawn chemicals'....harmful to children and pets. Then if you see him still walking across the lawn, despite the signage, you could run out and alert him...."Oh, please don't walk the dog there, the chemicals could really hurt him..how terrible it would be for him if he licked his paws and got sick....oh please don't do that..yada, yada." If he refuses, you could ask him to sign a waiver in case his dog does become 'injured' due to the chemicals :thumbsup2 !!
Here's hoping the Animal Control officer has some luck...that is a huge pet peeve of mine.

I like the sprinkler idea....and giving him back
his "presents":lmao:

If after the suggested hints didnt work...

I would follow him home....
and with gloves spread that poop on his car door handles....
and leave the rest on his porch....:confused3
Ok i'm gross...dont mess with me;)

This brought back such memories....I actually started to laugh remembering them, but then thought it was not so funny when it was going on..

We had a neighbor, directly across the street, who would allow his dog to wander the neighborhood and the dog loved to use our front lawn, side lawn, driveway as his personal bathroom. It went on and on, and he would expand his bathroom experiences to our other neighbor's lawns....everyone disliked the dog and his owner for allowing it.. NEVER ON HIS OWN LAWN.

So one day my DH is putting out the trash and steps into another one of the dog's presents.. he lost it, but of course did not tell me what he did... he scooped up all the little presents into the top of the trash can cover and flung them across the street to the owner's lawn.. Fast forward, I am coming home from work and the wife comes out across the lawn and starts asking me about what we refer to as the incredible flinging incident....I had no idea what she was talking about.. I knew that dog used our lawn and others as his private bathroom... but did not know about my DH's breakdown that morning.. so she explained and I said to her I still do not know what you are talking about but if you are saying DH did this, then your conversation should be with him.. not me. I then went into the house and called DH....now I am laughing about it, but at the time, I was bit annoyed with her, him and the dog.. Of course, DH was the hero of the neighborhood.. all the neighbors who had put up with the constant mess from this dog were calling telling him he was their hero. It stopped btw... the dog stayed off our lawn from the day forward..and neither the wife or her husband ever questioned DH on his flinging incident.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

My next door neighbor had a dog that used to get out all the time (dog ran away for good) and poop everywhere. I don't along with them as it is. So, I tried to ignore the problem. Another neighbor kept telling them about the dog pooping in his driveway and yard. They did nothing to rectify the problem, no surprise there. One afternoon, I was outside when I saw that neighbor walk up to my next door neighbor's front door with a plastic bag. Next thing I see are turds flying toward their front door. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It was priceless!!!! It didn't remedy the problem, but I'm sure he got some satisfaction.:lmao: I know I did.:cool1: :cool1:

We have a guy like this, too. We have two labs who are inside of our fence, and they go absolutely crazy when this guy walks by with his unleashed dog.

I was pretty livid and would always complain to DH about it. Yes, there's a leash law, but I don't think it's strictly enforced on our sleepy, quiet residential street.

We had some work done to our house the past few months, and at one point, our back gate to the fence was open for the morning. Our dogs were inside, but our contractor yelled out, "Hey, there's a strange dog pissing on your patio furniture." I ran out back and shooshed the dog back to its owner. He just stood there with this crazy smile, and he smelled something awful (the man.)

We're really good friends with our other neighbor, and I talked to him about it after the peeing incident. I found out that in the course of one year, this man lost one son to cancer, the other son to suicide and his wife to a heart attack. His sons were in their 20s, and his wife was pretty young, too (50s).

I don't know. When I found that out, I figured this guy's got enough on his plate in the "bummer" department.

And his dog isn't vicious. He's an old black lab.

"The flingingin incident"?? Bwhahahaha!:lmao: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 We have a neighbor who lets his mini dachshund and whippet use our shared lawn (condo living- his sideyard is the lawn under our balcony area). We can't go outside in the summertime without having to endure the aroma of sun baking dog doody. I have aksed him to pick up after them...and I am nearing my wit's end. I am teetering on the edge of emptying my cat's litterbox on his doorstep...or maybe just leave a big pile of stinky diapers there...

A beige rottweiller? Does the dog look kinda like this?

Those are mastiffs and don't let the size scare ya. Big goofy clowns, the lot of 'em. Sweet as all get out too, usually.

I'm glad AC is on it. I don't get why people feel that laws just apply to everyone else.

When we first moved into our house (1991) our next door neighbor use to walk her dog in my yard-on a leash of course. She would walk around their fancy shmancy wrought iron fence and walk the little mop in my grass. I had no dogs and I had 2 toddlers-I was livid- I don't want them stepping in the that crap. One day I noticed the mop was poo'ing in my yard again- on his leash (don't wanna break the law) and I got a huge wad of paper towel, marched outside ,picked up the pile and flung the whole mess (paper towel and all) over her fence-she wasn't even back to her yard yet- her mouth dropped open and I never had dog poo in my yard again :thumbsup2

Follow the idiot home then take up a "collection" and deposit it on his grass :rotfl:

Water gun!!!

We have a woman in our neighborhood who constantly walks her dog with the leash in her hand not attached to the dog....her dog will come completely into the yard.....well, we have asked her repeatedly to stop. When I first started seeing her I would bang on the front window and then run out the door....one day DH was watering and the dog came in our yard with no leash...well....neighbor woman got a nice shower and has not been down our street since.

Just remember that it's not the dogs fault.

You could scoop all of it up and save it over a couple of weeks (I know that's something you really want to do:teeth:). Find out where he lives and dump it on his front porch with a note that says, "I think your dog dropped this, just thought I would return it.":)

Keep a camera handy to snap a picture if you see him again. Document the call to animal control also.

Best advice. Always document. Get a video of him walking the dog without and leash and defecating on your lawn (if you have a leash law you may have a pooper-scooper law too).

Don't resort to confrontational situations that could land you in jail too.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

I believe the OP said that he doesn't know where this person lives. :confused3 How is animal control supposed to locate the owner? :confused3

There are no bad dogs, only the owners. For the dog's and everyone else's wellbeing the dog should be on a leash. Having once owned a Rottie they are great dogs but they are big and strong. They can knock someone over while playing and they unwillingly hurt a smaller dog while playing with it. Having stepped in his poop I can understand your desire to not have his dog leaving you a poop mine. I think your anminal controll officer should handle this and see that the owner is complying.
