I haven't been to DLR since the 80s, so I'm confused as to how this happened. Do guests climb the tower before boarding at DCA??

ANAHEIM -- A man was hospitalized Wednesday night after falling 20 to 25 feet while waiting to get on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's California Adventure Park.

According to Anaheim Police Department officials, the man had been drinking and was walking to the top of the attraction around 10:30 p.m. when he stepped over a rail and fell, landing 20 to 25 feet below.

The man was transported to UCI Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, officials said. He has since been released.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is billed by Disneyland as a haunted elevator ride through a formally elegant hotel.

The drop thrill ride is 183-feet tall, making it the tallest building at the resort and in Anaheim, according to Wikipedia.

There is a 1 story stairway to go up to the loading platform at DCA's TOT, unlike the one in DHS, perhaps that is where he fell, but obviously that isn't 20-25 feet though :confused3

The ride itself isn't 20-25 feet off the ground when you board, I know that for a fact.

We were in Disneyland/DCA on 8/5-8/7 and rode ToT twice. There is a set of stairs leading up to where you board the elevator. It overlooks the level below. I looked over the railing while we were waiting, but don't recall an approximate height, although, it would be a pretty long way down if one was falling.

What is the over-under that the drunk guy sues Disney?

He was probably sitting on the railing and fell backwards, how do you "step over it" unless he was taking a shortcut... doesn't anybody read Pumba and Timon's safety warnings anymore?

Warning, warning, warning....Political Statement ahead....The fact that you posted the above is exactly why we need a looser pays law. End Politcal Statement Zone.

"Police Sgt. Rick Martinez says the man was with friends when he put a leg over the railing, joked about the chance of someone falling over — then lost his balance and fell.

Martinez says there are some indications that the man had been drinking."

Yep, drunk loser. Wish I had seen that. Would have crouched down and laughed in his face why he was squirming around on the ground.

If true Disney should sue him!

I guess he was having too much fun at that Glow Festival thing. :sad2: I was at DCA two days ago and can visualize where he fell before getting on the elevator. Even though it looks like you're in a basement you have to climb stairs to get to one of the loading stations.

So apparently I was wrong, the stairs are 20-25 feet higher....didn't seem like it, but then again, it's been 5 years since I was there

I'm sure this is one reason why Walt was against having alcohol in parks. Not because alcohol is necessarily bad for you, but because people can't make good choices. Here's the thing...drunk or not, this guy made a bad decision. Even if he was sober I don't see how he has a leg to stand on. Railings are there for a reason...to keep people, children, animals, etc. from not getting past the railing for the safety of you, surrounding park guests and anyone else involved. It'll be interesting how this plays out...

and then ppl roll their eyes when I tell them not to sit on the railings at the boat dock

One word for you...moron.

I am relieved he didn't hurt anyone when he fell. Remember what Forrest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does." Stupid done fell off the rail. (Pardon my grammar. In this case, it was warranted.)
