I don't have the particulars. I heard on the radio this morning a man in Houston confessed to killing his girlfriend after seeing "Passions of Christ". After the movie he confessed to a friend and then turned himself in. His girlfriend died in January and was ruled a suicide.

What an amazing reaction.

Has anyone else heard this?

Since the movie didn't come out until after January when you say the gf died, it seems strange to me. But I suppose, nothing is impossible.

BHfan - they are saying the movie made him confess, not kill.

Oh.:o That makes A LOT more sense.:p

I haven't seen the movie yet but I am sure it would have that type of impact on someone. God has a way of dealing with your heart.

Sorry I misunderstood.

HOUSTON, Texas (AP) -- A man saw "The Passion of the Christ," talked to a spiritual adviser, then told police he had killed his girlfriend, authorities said Thursday.

Dan R. Leach's viewing of Mel Gibson's cinematic depiction of the last hours of Jesus, along with the discussion with a family friend, led him to walk into the Fort Bend County sheriff's department earlier this month and confess to killing Ashley Nicole Wilson, Detective Mike Kubricht said.

A coroner had ruled her death by hanging a suicide.

Wilson's body was discovered January 19 in her apartment near Richmond, southwest of Houston. All physical evidence pointed to suicide, Kubricht said, and the 19-year-old had gone off anti-depressant medications because she was pregnant.

The pregnancy apparently was the motive, Kubricht said, because Leach believed he was responsible and did not want to raise a child.

Leach, 21, wore gloves and left none of his own DNA behind, Kubricht said.

"He was very, very meticulous," Kubricht said. "It was very well-planned and well executed."

There was no answer at Leach's residence in Rosenberg on Thursday. He was arrested Tuesday, a day after his indictment for murder, and remained in county jail on $100,000 bond.

He was expected to get a court-appointed attorney, Kubricht said.

"Something [the adviser] said, between that and the movie, he felt in order for him to have redemption he would have to confess his sin and do his time," Kubricht said.

Leach faces up to life in prison if convicted.

Sorry everybody - I reread and can see how the wording is confusing.

The man killed his girlfriend in January. She had been hung.
Her death was ruled a suicide.

I think it may have been yesterday, her boyfriend went with a friend to see "Passions of the Christ". He was so moved, he confessed to murdering his girlfriend. He was not even a suspect as her death was ruled a suicide.

Shows the power of the movie.

You're welcome, wishuponastarforever. I read cnn's website almost as much as I read things on the DIS.;)

I'm glad he developed a conscious and turned himself in.

Bet he wasn't Catholic. If he were he could have just gone to confession and not bothered with any of that life in prison stuff! ;)

That's not how it works. I don't know where you learned that garbage.

I haven't seen that movie yet and I'm not sure I ever will. Our bible study teacher at church did a bible study on the crucifiction of Christ two weeks ago and it just tore me up. I can easily imagine that seeing a movie of this event would cause someone to confess their sins, even something like murder that would cause them to be put in prison for a very long time.

LOL IMGONNABE40 -- I nearly fell off my chair when I read your post. I like your sense of humor! It seems we have a lot in common because I thought the same thing.

Well, I don't see the humor in it. I do see God's hand in this man's life.

Too late for the woman, unfortunately.
