Man arrested at Typhoon Lagoon

I am just sick reading this...

We just returned from a trip to WDW and we visited TL 4 out of the 7 nights we were there. My kids are 10 & 14 and the wave pool was their favorite spot. I let them out there together for times while I sat back on the bench (at the waters edge) where I could still see them. I was more concerned with them getting hurt than having someone do something like that to them!

Can't believe what we have to watch out for these days....:sad2:

What will happen to the guy? He is already out on bond. How many sickos just go to the water parks and parks looking for opportunities to violate someone??

I wonder why the other father did not want to press charges?

I guess it depends on to the extent of what happened and it probably wasnt as bad as the incident in the story, etc.

But, still I know how protective I would be and I'm only an uncle!

Me either! But ofcoarse, if someone did that to one of our girls, then we would probably end up with the charges being pressed against us for ripping the guys hands (other other bodily parts) off!

I agree 100%.

I think to not press charges sends the wrong message to the daughter, and perpetuates this problem. It certainly doesnt draw any attention to the issue. I would have pressed charges, and then he couldve paid for her college and wedding..

He did that to my daughter I'd ge in jail and you'd be hearing about a man drowning at a water park.
Sorry, but that's probably the truth.
maybe that's just the protective daddy in me...i'd probably report it, but be REALLY mad.

Me too, no need to report him just call the hearse to come take him away.

I feel terrible for the girl, but I'm glad here they caught the guy. I bet this goes on more than we all would like to think. Some people are just disgusting.

Although we would have pressed charges, I'm more upset about the part of the story that said:

"Sgt. Keith Hubbard watched the man from a security control room and reported seeing a man repeatedly position himself in front of young girls in the wave pool and dive under water and attempt to remove their bathing suit tops

Several Disney employees reported seeing the same thing, deputies said."

REPEATEDLY?!?!?!?!? How many times did they let this man do it to children before they arrested him? That's outrageous! They should have just believed the one girl and interviewed people afterward rather than watching him molest other kids!

17 years of Law Enforcement, and it doesn't surprise me at all...and don't be surprised when he "pleas" and gets probation...or a short sentence, then probation...

I think, sometimes, the Legal system is failing our children....

Let's hope not...

1) It doesn't specify if they reviewed previous footage, or were watching LIVE

2) Flip the situation around. What if you were the one accused in the wave pool. What is something happened purely by accident (have you ever brushed up against someone?) Would you want to be arrested and taken out of Disney for Child Molestation charges if you were innocent? I understand that anyone would want to get someone like this into custody ASAP, but people that are wrongfully accused in these situations, acquitted or not, can easily have their life ruined.

I totally agree. As bad as it is to allow a second victim it really needed to happen to be sure it wasn't an unintended accident. Also a way to interpret the story might be that the CM's had been watching this guy but no one had filed a complaint yet so they could do nothing. Once the girl filed the complaint then the CM's could show the police previous footage that it wasn't an accident.

because then she may have to testify in a trial. which would mean a return trip - or a lot of people just do not want their children to have to face the accused in court.

I myself would definitely be pressing charges

Agreed that this is probably the reason no further charges were pressed, and also agreed that I'd happily make a return trip to put this guy away for as long as possible.

As a father of two girls, stories like this scare me to no end. We have a wave pool at our local waterpark, and this is exactly the kind of thing I worry about in that wave pool, in addition to the drowning danger.

Deputies: Girl Groped In Disney Pool
Teen Says Man Repeatedly Touched Her In Wave Pool

POSTED: Monday, July 6, 2009
UPDATED: 11:50 am EDT July 6, 2009

Robert C. Double Jr., 51.
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man has been arrested after a teenage girl accused him of touching her inappropriately in the wave pool at a Disney water park.

The victim told security the man crashed into her in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon and pulled her bikini top and bottom off and groped her breasts. She said she walked away from the man, but when another wave came, he crashed into her again and grabbed her bikini top, deputies said.

The teen left the wave pool and told her father, who reported the incident to security.

Sgt. Keith Hubbard watched the man from a security control room and reported seeing a man repeatedly position himself in front of young girls in the wave pool and dive under water and attempt to remove their bathing suit tops

Several Disney employees reported seeing the same thing, deputies said.

Lifeguards removed Robert Double Jr. from the wave pool and he was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 16 after the victim identified him.

Only one other victim was found, but her father said he did not want to press charges.

There have been two similar incidents in recent weeks involving teens being groped in wave pools at water parks. One at Aquatica and another at Wet 'n Wild.

I don't understand how he could have pulled her swim suit OFF. Was she standing there naked? Did she not scream? I would have!
I think the wave pool does push you into people, I'm sure it could even push someone's hands where they don't need to be. But pulling her suit off? I am confused.

There were several posts like this in this thread.

You would really rather spend time in jail for manslaughter or murder and potentially ruin your life and that of your family and not be able to be there for your kids as they grow up rather than let the authorities take care of the situation?

Sick. Sick. Sick. Arrghh!! It's so unfortunate they have to actually do something to someone before they're recognized as pedophiles.

I used to never really give much thought to it, but after seeing the movie Little Children, it made me wonder how many creepos like that are hanging around at the pool, park, etc. I'm not one to live in fear, but I definitely keep my eyes on my kids when we're around people we don't know.

As to the not pressing charges, without further information, all speculation along those lines should cease. There are a hundred different reasons why a teen girl's situation might be fragile enough to want to shelter her from the direct public exposure involved in actually pressing charges. They provided the corroborating evidence, which led to the arrest in which charges were already being pressed.

I think this thread should move on and leave that question alone.

I would suspect that the definition of "off" is what is confusing. Meaning, sometimes it simply means that the smiwsuit was simply pulled out of position, exposing what was meant to be covered, rather than coming off completely.

Sounds like they got their man though, well done.

If this man IS guilty of these charges: GIVE HIM THE DEATH PENALTY. or at least a good beating.
As a father of a 2 y.o. girl....and 4 y.o. boy...id personally take care of this guy myself if he did this to my kids.......
Just sayin.
