Deputies: Girl Groped In Disney Pool
Teen Says Man Repeatedly Touched Her In Wave Pool

POSTED: Monday, July 6, 2009
UPDATED: 11:50 am EDT July 6, 2009

Robert C. Double Jr., 51.
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man has been arrested after a teenage girl accused him of touching her inappropriately in the wave pool at a Disney water park.

The victim told security the man crashed into her in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon and pulled her bikini top and bottom off and groped her breasts. She said she walked away from the man, but when another wave came, he crashed into her again and grabbed her bikini top, deputies said.

The teen left the wave pool and told her father, who reported the incident to security.

Sgt. Keith Hubbard watched the man from a security control room and reported seeing a man repeatedly position himself in front of young girls in the wave pool and dive under water and attempt to remove their bathing suit tops

Several Disney employees reported seeing the same thing, deputies said.

Lifeguards removed Robert Double Jr. from the wave pool and he was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 16 after the victim identified him.

Only one other victim was found, but her father said he did not want to press charges.

There have been two similar incidents in recent weeks involving teens being groped in wave pools at water parks. One at Aquatica and another at Wet 'n Wild.

Being a father of a young daughter parents should be aware and have your children report right away like this girl did!

I'm glad they reported this!!! But I wonder why the other girls father didn't want to press charges? hmmm

The other father didn't want to press charges? What?! I don't understand that AT ALL!

because then she may have to testify in a trial. which would mean a return trip - or a lot of people just do not want their children to have to face the accused in court.

I myself would definitely be pressing charges

Me either! But ofcoarse, if someone did that to one of our girls, then we would probably end up with the charges being pressed against us for ripping the guys hands (other other bodily parts) off!

Maybe the dad didn't want to drag his duaghter through a long court proceeding where she'll be questioned about the moral use of a bikini by some sleazy lawyer. :confused3

I'm not sure if I would want to press charges. :confused3 In doing so, you have to drag your child through alot of stress and public humiliation. Maybe he thought his child has been through enough from that ordeal??

Tough decision, but I respect the dad's choices if he was just looking out for what's best for his child.

Tough call. The trial (and publicity) could be worse than the "grope." :sad2:

But I think I'd have to do something so that the man couldn't as easily get away with it again.

Yep, you betcha!

This is very disturbing news. I kinda wonder how all these people 'saw' this man doing this but no one said anything until the young girl's father told security?

I have total respect for the one father who declined pressing charges. Maybe the girl was very young or developmentally disabled? Maybe she didn't really understand what happened and he didn't want her to 'relive' it? Hopefully they'll have enough evidence to keep this man away from children.

I don't get people. What is wrong with them?

I just found out recently a 28 yr.old man about 0.2 miles from my house tried to do some inappropriate acts to a 15 year old, and she turned him in. Then her friend, a 16 year old girl, was questioned and admitted that she had been raped by this guy multiple times over the last 4 years!

My husband is home over the summer with our DD's (he is a teacher) they are 7 and 4 and said if he sees this guy he will have a hard time not hurting him if he even looks at our girls.

I work in an elementary school. During certain times of the year, I work closely with the guidance counselor and the school psychologist. You would not believe how many times in one year teachers come and report things a student has told them. It's a horrible world we live in. :sad1:

thumbs ups to the young lady who had the courage to speak up and get her father and security involved! She and her family should be very proud of herself. I have had the opertunity to work with a s. assault unit in the Sheriffs dept where Im an officer and have seen first hand how hard it is for victims to speak up.

Good thing she reported this. That is just nasty for someone to do something like this.

He did that to my daughter I'd ge in jail and you'd be hearing about a man drowning at a water park.
Sorry, but that's probably the truth.
maybe that's just the protective daddy in me...i'd probably report it, but be REALLY mad.

The family is probably not local and did not want to have to come down to Orlando or from their home country on numerous occasions to be in court. It is something people weigh into their decision about pressing charges.

When we pressed charges against a thief that stole/shop lifted a bracelet. The case was in the courts for almost 2 years before he was sentenced to spend 6 months in jail.

Terrible news story, such a shame for the girl and her family :(

I can't believe some people will do such things to others, thank goodness they caught the man on camera and action was taken by the CM's and security.

I can understand why the Father would not want to press charges, but goodness me, if that was my little girl, I'd have been the one heading to jail, as that horrible person who touched them wouldn't have gotten out of there in one piece!

Such a shame this has happened to them whilst on holiday! :sad2:
