Mammogram callback?

Hoping everything goes well tomorrow. I've had to have second ones often. The nerves don't get easier. I'm fortunate though that the radiologist reads it immediately before you leave so they let you do another one right after. I had to have a mass removed after they found something, turned out benign but it was intruding?. In my circles, it seems to be common for a call back on your first one as it's the baseline.

i'm sorry for more questions. Now my letter is available and it says I do not have dense breasts - grade B. Does this make the focal asymmetry more concerning? or still just something they need to check as it's my first mammo? At least they didn't see anything else weird in either breast.
I do not have dense breasts either but did have breast cancer.

I hope you see this before you go today - ask them to have someone read the mammogram and get back to you today. I was told after I was diagnosed that you can request that. Every year now I get a call usually within the hour after I leave with my results.

Okay. So I went in for the diagnostic mammo first, tech was fantastic! She said she didn't even see the asymmetry on the new tests, but will talk with radiologist. Came in and said radiologist wants to do ultrasound anyway, so yikes.

After that, radiologist comes in and says basically it's tissue on the right breast that i don't have in the left breast. She said I may have always had this but because this was my first mammo, they will follow up in 6 months. She said she is 99.92% sure it's nothing, but if I wanted to biopsy the tissue we could, but she wouldn't recommend putting me through that. She said then if everything is okay in six months (which she thinks it will be), then I'd be back on yearly mammograms.

Thank you everyone!!!

thank you for updating everyone. I came back to the forum tonight to see if you had an update. It's crazy sometimes to think you just read a post from someone you don't know (but they have a common interest in Disney) and you think of them and are hoping everything goes in their favor.

Yes, that makes sense on the dense breasts, harder to see anything growing in there. So at least they are taking the precautions with checking you again in 6 months. I would not stress on the upcoming visit. Just get in the routine of doing the self exams, even if just in the shower. You should know if something feels off. Cancer is a scary thing!

Thank you for thinking of me.

Thanks to all of you!
