Mama Melrose

We ate at Mama's the end of February. Dishes our table ordered (and all enjoyed) were the steak, penne vodka, chicken parm and my favorite, the chicken pipette. The calamari was excellent as were the salads. Desserts were good but not great. Best dessert at our table was the kids spaghetti and meatball cupcake!

We loved it on all three of our last trips (December 2008, August 2009, and August 2010). It has become a must-do for us!

We have never ordered the pasta or parmigiana dishes, though.

It's interesting, because the pasta and parmigiana dishes seem to get panned at Mama Melrose's, Tony's Town Square, and Tutto Italia. It almost makes me wonder if Disney can do pasta or parmigiana right. I have never tried these items at Disney, so I don't know. But if you read reports, that is what seems to disappoint people the most.

I always order the calamari, the anitpasto, or the mozzarella and tomatoes for our table. We have tried the wood-grilled tuna and the strip steak for entrees. Both were outstanding, especially the tuna.

I love Mama Melrose's!

I think the pasta sauce is the reason the pasta dishes are so commonly complained about. It's like pizza - whatever style/flavors you were brought up on is what you think is "good". I can't count the number of times we've gone out for Italian and everyone who got the seafood or the marsala or the piccata is thrilled and the person who orders the meal w/ red sauce is disappointed.

We ate there 6/10. We liked the food & the atmosphere. It was pretty much like an Olive Garden, IMO, and that's not a bad thing for me.

We just ate there 3/29. It was one of our favorite meals!! Between us 4 adults, we tried 3 different appetizers, 3 different entrees and 2 different desserts. We all enjoyed all of them!!! We did the F! package.

I am trying to decide on a restaurant for our last full day when we are in DHS.

It looks to be between Mama Melrose, Sci-Fi diner and possibly Brown Derby.

I never really hear much talk about Mama Melrose and wondered if anyone has been, what did you think of it?

Sci-Fi is lots of fun, great burgers and milkshakes. Brown Derby is great if you are looking for something fancy. Mama Melrose is a must do though. They just added mac and cheese with an Italian twist that is beyond unique. Had to wait a little bit even with a reservation last time we dined there. However the service and food made up for it! Apparently the package offered for the Fantasmic showing is very popular there.
