How would you rate Mam Melrose's? Is the flatbread entree on the menu like a pizza? Thanks!

I have never understood the bad reviews this place gets, because it was one of the best meals we had on our trip. Unfortunately, we lost the camera the next morning, so I don't have the pictures. :sad1:

So, I'd give it at 10!!!

I also don't understand the bad reviews Mama Melrose gets--DH and I have had dinner there twice and really enjoyed both meals. We both like it better than Tuttos, which is considerably more expensive.

Yes, the flatbreads are little pizzas. They're yummy, and a full meal in themselves (I've had a flatbread as my entree for each dinner).

The ambience is like an old-fashioned Italian diner--brick walls, low lighting. Very fun, and reminds me of the Red Diamond Inn, an old Italian restaurant in Miami where my family used to eat when I was a kid.:hippie:

I would give it a 9 out of 10.

We were there in December and it was our favorite meal of the entire week! My DH thought I was crazy because I warned him about the reviews before we went in and it ended up being so good. We had the dining plan and ate at a TS place every day and this was the best. We had wonderful service (which we told the manager about and filled out an applause form on) and the chicken parmigiana was very good. I would recommend this place over Tutto's definitely.

Most of the food was average, and the DBF's pasta was just plain bad. Service was friendly, but extremely slow. We tried it twice, but won't be returning again.

Maybe it's because we have great Italian food around here, but we all found it to be at best, fair. It wasn't horrible and unedible, just not very good in comparison to the Italian food we're used to. I would rather have a burger at counter service than return there.

We were just there last week and LOVED it. We were on the DP and got an appetizer each.. which were HUGE. My DH got steak, and I got the chicken parm, both of which were delicious. My DD 11 just wanted plain chicken alfredo, which didn't happen to be on the menu, and the waiter said, "Princess you can have anything you like... there are things that aren't even on the menu that I can get for you..." WONDERFUL.. I'd highly recommend it!

We have only been to Mama Melrose once, but the one time we were there, we really liked the food. It's basically commercialized italian food, but a little better than Olive Garden. We liked it.

I posted a similar question a few months ago. Most of the reviews were pretty good. We decided to book a Fantasmic Package there.

We were there once and have no plans to return, the food was not good at all and the service was very poor.

Yes, the flatbreads are basically personal pizzas. My sister and cousin each got one as their meal the last time we ate at Mama Melrose and still rave about them! :thumbsup2 Although Mama Melrose seems to get lots of bad reviews around here, my family really likes it! We've been a few times and the food has always been good and service great (and we have really fantastic Italian restaurants where we live).

Here's a picture of the flatbread my sister got:

That looks so good. Does the pasta beside it come with it as a side? We are going to try Mama Melrose's next trip hopefully using the Fantasmic! package.

I think my sister ordered the pasta as a separate side, but she said the flatbread was really enough food that she didn't need the extra pasta.

We ate here in March. I think the pasta is the kids spaghetti. I had the chicken parm. It was okay. I loved my appetizer. It was toasted bread and tomatoes. Yummy. I think the spaghetti sauce is sour. We sweeten ours at home with carrots. Maybe I'll try the eggplant next time or the flatbread. It looks delicious.

We did the Fantasmic Pkg there on April 20th & were pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent & the food was very good. My DS all ready told me he'd like to do the Fantasmic Pkg there again next trip.

I am leaning towards Mama Melrose for my Fantasmic! meal. Glad to hear some people have had a good experience.

I am Italian so I eat good Italian food all the time.

We did this meal last May and no one in my party liked it. This was the one place the chef did NOT come out to speak to us in regards to what my DD could/could not eat due to her peanut allergy.

We won't do this one again.

Just back from our trip 4/25-5/2. Tried Mama Melrose's for the first time - won't be going back. I had the steak with gorgonzola butter, crispy sun dried tomato polenta and grilled asparagus. The steak was okay - kind of like a family steak chain - nothing great at all. The asaragus was good but the polenta was not crispy and was just the stuff you can buy in any grocery store. The pizzas did look good but would I use a dining plan credit on it - no way. The pizza with creme brulee and a soft drink are a better value at Wolfgang Puck's express at the Marketplace in downtown Disney. The surprise 1 credit TS meal of our trip was the Grand Floridian Cafe - great steaks and the pasta dish was to die for as were their desserts.

I am a little nervous to try this place. I booked it for the FDP because we only wanted to use 1 TS credit and we did not want another buffet so this was the only place left. Hopefully we will have a good experience here.

I am glad to hear you liked Grand Floridian Cafe. I have a dinner planned there and I have been reading some negative reviews but I feel better since you were just there.
