Mama Melrose what was good / bad

I have been reading mixed reviews about Mama Melrose, would you all mind telling me what you ordered that was good and what was bad?? thank you. trying to decide if i should change this adr to Cape May Cafe

We were there in April and I have to say that it was my least favorite TS. I had the chicken parm, which came with pasta and it was not very good at all. It tasted like a microwaved frozen dinner. Two of my kids had the pizza and they didn't like it so they shared pasta with butter with my other two kids. My husband had the wood grilled shrimp over pasta and that was good. I don't think we would go back though, it was quite forgettable.

We had the toasted bread salad, what a joke, just one crouton on the salad.

Chicken parm, served lukewarm and no flavor

Eggplant Napoleon, served lukewarm, the bean ragu was very hard and no flavor

Calamari was very good

Yum! We went last year and are going back this year.
DH Had:Spicy Italian Sausage - Served with Rigatoni pasta, peppers, onions, and a tomato basil sauce topped with Caprino cheese. - $16.99
I hadenne Alla Vodka - Made with Pancetta and sweet onion, finished with tomato basil sauce, cream, Vodka, and Pecorino Romano. - $16.99
My starter was the mozz and tomatoes, DH had calamari.
The portions we got were huge. I really wanted to keep eating but was saving room for dessert.
Dh had Honey-Hazelnut & Ricotta Cheesecake and I had the chocolate truffle cake which was heaven! One of the best desserts I've had at a restaurant.

We thought it was good. I got the Charred Butcher Tender Steak. I didn't care much for the red pepper polenta that came with it. My sister got the salmon. I tasted it and it was really good. My DH liked his but I don't remember what he got. But the service was SLOW. It took forever.

We have always had good food and good service. No, it is not a gourmet restaurant, but we put it above Olive Garden. I like the four-cheese flatbread pizza; my DH has had the steak once and the chicken parmesan twice and really enjoyed it. We've had the breads and the calamari for appetizers and they were good too.

We ate there before and it was our most disappointing meal on property. I ordered the Penne with Vodka sauce. It was, in no way, vodka sauce. It was marinara sauce with about 1 pound of salt. There was soooooo much salt and the pasta was so overcooked.

I won't eat there again

I heard somewhere that Mama Melrose is no longer using regular bread and using some gross wheat thing for the flatbread. Does anyone know if this is true??

MM has mixed reviews, but we ate there twice and enjoyed it both times.

They no longer offer a free bread basket, but I don't know if the bread appetizer that you can order off of the menu has recently changed or not.

He liked his, but mine was blech! The sauce was sparse and brown. It bothered my stomach so much that I couldn't eat my Park Faire prime rib dinner the next evening.

Ate there in 2002 and had a great meal and great service. Ate there last summer and had a horrible meal and mediocre service. The menu changed. The food was not tasty and overdone.

Do yourself a favor and skip this TS. I wish we would have. We had nine people who all ordered all different things and nothing was remarkable. We will not ever book this table service restaurant again.

I would go just for a bellini, yum! I like the penne alla vodka and usually its great but last summer it was just so so.

My penne al la vodka was really good, the bread appetizer was good but the tiarimsu wasn't good at all. Over all it was OK but there are better places to use a TS credit.

I had the steak and it was good I was alittle leery of the polenta but it was good!! TheTiramusi was great!! Service was fine!!

I just ate there last week, and I had been looking forward to eating there. But, sadly, I was quite disappointed with the food. I usually do not complain, but I had the chicken Parmesan, and it had no taste! like thawed-out old meat. No zing in the sauce. blah, bland. Maybe it was an off-night, but I've had better food at Olive Garden. There were 3 other adults with me, and they weren't impressed either. One had the mussels and linguine, another chicken parm, and the third had the pork dish--which was okay but she wasn't excited about eating it.

I have been debating making a ressie for MM for when we will be at HS. Since you have just been there and it wasn't good, I think, I'll pass on it.
