Mama Melrose VS HBD 1 credit vs 2 Is it worth it?

We are considering the Fantasmic Dinner Package. We won't do H&V, BUT are interested in both Mama Melrose and Hollywood Brown Derby. 1 credit for MM and 2 for HBD.... is HBD really THAT much better? These are the only two HS table service res. that we have yet to go to so I just don't know what to do as I have no background knowledge! Any opinions on the two? If you had to choose, which would you do??

Also, can we book this one 180 days out too, or is this a 90 day booking?

Both for F pkg.

HBD last year, MM this year. Last year we were on dxdp, so we had the extra ts meals to use.

If you're on dxdp, hbd is worth using the extra credit - the food quality is very much superior to MM, and the dining atmosphere is superior as well.

This said, if you're only on the regular ddp, MM is fine - advise to avoid food with red sauce - their sauce is pretty bad. The meals we had that did not feature red sauce were sound. In the F pkg you get an app and desert with your meal so it's more than you usually get on the ddp.

You can book the F pkg 180 days out like you can with other adrs

Love the Brown Derby!! So worth the 2 credits.

We've been to both. HBD is our least favorite of the signature restaurants. The atmosphere is very pleasant, but in our opinion, the food is not exceptional. The last time we dined at MM was April 2008. A that time the food (including the red sauce) while not exceptional, was good and we agreed we'd go back there again.

we like MM on the F! package...so nice to get the app with the meal (love, love, love their calamari.) As for the red sauce, well obviously everyone has their own preference because we liked it. Had several different dishes there, and no prob. with the sauces on any of them.

Our only problem with MM was 2 out of 3 times we were there was exceptionally slow service...which makes it a good thing they schedule the meals so early, lol.

No brainer then - use the 2 ts at hbd and use snack credits such that you only need one other meal that day. HBD experience was significantly better than MM.

In 09 on dxdp, we used 2ts meals for dinner almost every day, used the other ts credit for lunch, and one of the 2 snack credits to just grab something fast like a muffin for breakfast. This works great imo because 3 sit down meals in a day is a hugh time and scheduling commitment to dining.
