How is Mama Melrose's?

I haven't read too much about it, but the menu looks yummy & reasonably priced!

Any reviews? What's good here & what's not so good?

Also, would you consider it to have a romantic flair to it or is it loud & chaotic?

Thanks!:flower3:

Honestly, this was one of our least favorite places. I got a shrimp and pasta dish, and had to send it back. When I got a new dish, the shrimp was still undercooked and the sauce was horrid.

I think is was a Fruit de mare dish.

The kids were not thrilled either, even though it was the standard kids dishes. For what ever reason, they did not like the taste.

If you are getting the Fantasmic Dinner Pkg. that would be the only reason I would dine there. This trip we are going to try Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic dinner package(free dining) If I was paying out of pocket I would skip HS dinner all together.

The only place we enjoyed was Sci-fi, lunch. We loved the Burgers and milk shakes.:goodvibes

MM is good. It can be hit or miss at times. But I would go and try it. For the most part, we like it. The flatbreads are good. It isnt loud, maybe a bit romantic in a suttle kind of way.

We enjoy Spoodles also. It is in some ways similar in food, but better tasting.

It's about as romantic as a Macaroni Grill or an Olive Garden. And not as good.

I hopefully am not a lone voice in saying DH and I LOVE Mama Melrose. Please click on the link to my dining reviews (in my sig) - it's not very long and you will see pictures of what we got at at MM.

I don't find any restaurant in WDW particularly romantic, but I will say this is one of the few where there is actually room between the tables -- quite a bit of room. I wish I had taken a picture of the interior.

We have been there twice and had excellent meals and excellent service. :thumbsup2 We would return in a heartbeat ... and will I am sure!

I am not sure how to do a link to the exact page of my review and if you don't have siggies on and want the link, just pm me.

We really like MM. A must every trip. Not sure if I would consider it romantic, but they do have booths and it is not noisy. If you go, ask for Barbara, she is excellent. We also LOVE Brown Derby, and that is probably more romantic I guess. Have a great trip!

MM is decent. I'd say Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill are hands down better though. So don't go expecting real Italian food. My mom had gotten the shrimp and pasta and it was REALLY good. Proof that this place is hit or miss! lol

We really liked Mama Melrose the time we went. Last year my family wanted to try something different and we did Hollywood and Vine instead. That place was awful. We are going to do Brown Derby this time but next time I promise we are going back to Mama Melrose! Now that you mention it, might try to see if we can sneak in for a lunch while we are there!

We love MM, it's one of our "must do's". The food is always good and the atmoshere is nice....can't say romantic, but well worth the trip. Give it a try, you'll like it!

Enjoy Mama's at least once each trip to WDW.We have always got great service and we always order the wood fired pizza's and a salad.I know Mama's gets mixed reveiws but we have always enjoyed this dining spot.Hey if we all agreed on everthing this would be a boring world very qickly.:goodvibes :goodvibes

We love Mama Melrose and it's a must do each trip for us. It's one of our favorites.

Thankyou:flower3: Great minds must think alike because it was actually the caesar salad & eggplant dish on the menu that caught my eye! I think we might give this one a try!:goodvibes

We ate there 4 years ago, and we weren't impressed. The food was so-so, and the wait staff was S-L-O-W!! (Which I know is just luck of the draw). I probably won't go back, but my sister went and thought it was fine last year.

My family and I went here back in '06. We were not impressed, and in fact is my least favorite restaraunt i've been to at WDW. We considered eating here for our upcoming trip only for the Fantasmic package, but we were able to get ressies at Hollywood instead. I absolutely love calamari, but when I got it here, I could not stand it. My brother got some kind of tomato and swiss app, and it was literally... a slice of raw tomato and cheese. :rotfl: I personally enjoy any other WDW restaraunt more than this one.

We are not fans...We have been twice and will not return...

On the good side, both times our server was good and the atmosphere is very nice...It has a NYC, Italian feel to it...

BUT the food was really bad for us both times...The sauce was very dark, had too many spices, and a bit too much oil...The chicken was like rubber...The bread was not even good (not bad but not tasty either)...The second time we went DS5 would not even try his pizza because he said it looked yucky...We ended up eating a few snack credits worth of food soon after leaving because we left without being full because we just could not eat much of our food that second time...

So, sorry MM...Thumbs down for us :guilty:

Mama's is a standing ADR every trip for us. We love the warmth and wait staff is some of the friendliest you'll find. DH always orders the meaty sausage pasta dish; DD and I love their grilled pizzas or gorgonzola steak; DS loves the chicken parmesan. We'll be dining there again in June and can't wait. They never rush us and we can linger over good conversation and coffees for as long as we need to. Lighting and decor makes you feel like you are dining alfresco at twilight with strung lights and greenery. by contrast, Olive Gardens can feel chaotic and "close" IMO.
I say the best policy is to try as many eateries as you can each trip; keep some, ditch others on future trips . No one can really know how you'll feel in the atmosphere or about the food but you! This one is well worth a try:)

we liked Mama Melrose on the Fantasmic Dinner pacakge, September 2008. Doing it again in May
