Mama Melrose or Tony's

I have booked the Fantasmic package with Mama Melrose. However, I am wondering if Tony's would have better food. My hubby likes basic stuff, not gormet. Any thoughts.

If I do change it, how hard will it be to get in to Fantasmic the week of Nov 12 - 18? I am hoping it is not too crowded.

Thanks for your help.

Isn't Tony's over in the Magic Kingdom? I am pretty sure you can't do a Fantasmic dinner package at Tony's. For dinner, I'd say it's a toss-up between Mama Melrose's and Tony's Town Square; for lunch, however, I'd go with Tony's.

Mama Melrose's is fine; good basic stuff; nothing gourmet.
Another place for good simple food at MGM might be the 50s Prime Time. The meatloaf is very good, tho the pot roast was pretty dry (just like "Mom's" in the 50s, I suppose).

I have tried like crazy for a Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose's the week after your stay. Nothing is showing up yet.

I'd keep your Fantasmic dining package as I think they are fairly booked.

I just got my package a few days ago. Just keep calling, every day. We got a 3:50 reservation. That is another problem. I just don't know if I want to eat that early. I will let you know if I give up the ressie and we can schedule a time to call and maybe you can get it.

I ate at both my past trip, Tony's and Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic package. The service was a little better at Mama Melrose's, and while I thought the food was good at Tony's, I loved Mama Melrose's, especially the flatbread, salad, and dessert. My pictures are on the food pic thread if you want to see them.

After reading so many bad posts on Tony's I'm afraid to try it, but we love Mama Melrose, especially the chicken flatbread!!! :goodvibes

That's the one I had that I thought was so good. :) It was one of the best things I ate all trip.

Our family liked Mama's better. It's nice for the fantasmic package, and the time you have would be nice. It's getting darker earlier and you will be able to walk off some that food before seating for the show. I know my wife and I were stuffed after eating there!!

Now Tony's is cool just to see the inside. Lady and the tramp all over the place. The food is ok. We've done it three times and it just wasn't hitting the spot for italian food. Mama's had something we all liked. Have fun! :wave2:

We didn't care for Tony's at all. Food was just ok. Prices were way too high for the poor quality of the food.

We did Mama's for the FDP last fall & really enjoyed it. At first, I thought I'd hate having to eat so early, but it worked out really well. We loved the salad and the flatbread. DH & I both enjoyed our pasta dishes (can't remember the names). It wasn't as fancy as the menu on AllEarsNet made it sound. Just some good, pretty basic Italian food.
