I'm trying to schedule our PS's for our up coming trip. Im looking for dinner at MGM..do you guys reccommend MM or HBD. I will have a 2 1/2 year old with us.

:wizard:

We love the Brown Derby! Book the dinner package and enjoy Fantasmic after dinner. The Cobb Salad is amazing....

We absolutely love the Brown Derby. Highly recommended.

We don't like Cobb Salad's so we have never tried the signature dish, but they always have something we like and the deserts are outstanding.

If your bringing a 2 yoa with you. I would say MM is your stop. The food at the between both are like compairing apples and oranges. You might not even find something your child might like at the BD.I don't know to many kids that are looking to eat a Cobb Salad for lunch... Also the price of the food is alot more at the BD. Although the food at both places is great. Taking a child go to PrimeTime 50 cafe or Si Fi. Those are your best bets.

I've eaten at both and I prefer Mama Melrose's. Our meal at BD 3 years ago was $75 for 2 people and I had a lot of difficulty finding an entree I wanted. I ended up with sesame seed crusted seared tuna. The Cobb salad was very good as was the graprfruit cake. I just prefer other types food than what they served at BD.

Just remember to book early at Mama Melrose's. DH and I tried to eat there in November , but they were already closed for the night. I don't think it was past 6pm!!! :sad2:

Mama Melrose is one of our favorite restaurants. But, I have never eaten at Brown Deby and seen some very favorable reviews of it. I think either place would be a good choice.

We like MM over BD. I would think with a 2yo you would find that MM is better for them as well.

We love both. Great food and service at both although the offerings are very different.

The service is more leisurely at BD though so if your 2yo is on the active side, I would probably pick MM so it is enjoyable for everyone. 2 of my 3 would have been fine at BD at 2.5 but our middle son would not have been happy sitting through a meal of that length.

I like BD better but with a 2 year old, MM would probably be a better choice.

We had a birthday party at MM a few months ago and the staff screwed it up. The food was conventional midprice Italian, and it took almost 2 hours to get everyone served. Never again.

We love the Brown Derby and my wife and I have a date their everytime we go to WDW. The Cobb Salad is nothing like what you expect. This is the original (it was invented by a chef at the Hollywood Brown Derby), and it's chopped so fine--lettuce and all--that you could eat it with a spoon. The taste is fabulous. Yes, it's dressier and more expensive.

With a 2 year old? At that age my kids didn't care where they ate, so we usually chose based on what we wanted instead. But that's up to you.

another vote for Hollywood Brown Derby...the past three trips I have eaten here on my first night..if you go try the Stone Ground Mustard-Crusted Rack of Lamb very tasty :)

please dont get mad at me for hijacking your thread...BUT DH wants to eat at MM for our FANTASMIC dinner in JUNE...it will be HOT and we will have been at the park all day...what do u reccomend to eat there?it all looks good..lol,,,,

I haven't eaten at the Brown Derby, but I have eaten at Mama's. The food was great, the service was even better! We didn't even have PS's, but they got us in w/in 10 min!

We took a 4-year-old and a 16-month-old to BD in December. The food was terrific, so I heartily recommend it from that standpoint. But the room is somewhat formal and its wide open (cavernous, in fact) and service is quite leisurely. We found out the hard way that the sound of crying and other misbehavior *travels* well in that room! My kids are used to dining in good restaurants and this was the only place at Disney there was even a hint of naughtiness ... *shrug* it happens to even the best kids and it was the 2nd full day of our vaca so they were tired. DH and I took turns eating and entertaining the boys outside but, man, was it an embarrassing space to have this experience. Just an FYI.

I think we'll try MM on our next trip for a FDP, though I would love to try BD again and have a more relaxed meal! LOL! Good luck deciding - I like the decisions *almost* better than the eating!

*giggles* Don't worry Hijack away!!! I will find out more info too!!!

We've been to both and while the food at BD was good, I wouldn't say it was great. I would recomment MM, they have great flatbreads! We have always had wonderful service at MM as well.
