Mama Melrose or 50's Prime Time?

Help me decide which to choose for dinner for 14 of us - Mama Melrose or 50's Prime Time.

We're going early December with all the family. We have all ages - grandparents down to elementary school age. I was originally thinking Mama Melrose - but now I'm wondering if 50's Prime Time would be fun for a big group like us. And we have a 16 yr old, 20 yr old and 21 yr old - I thought maybe they would enjoy 50's Prime Time as a fun dinner.

Opinions?? Thoughts?? I've read good things about the food at Mama Melrose, but I'm not sure about the food at 50's.

We love 50's PT...MM was just so bland no flavor at all and NO BREAD WITH YOUR MEAL!!! Why on earth would and Italian joint not have bread!

Mama Melrose is non-descript, but I think the layout of the restaurant would be better for a large party. Prime Time is more fun, but the food is relatively lame and overpriced, for the most part.

We did the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose's last Summer and none of us liked it. The food tasted like those cheap frozen Italian meals. Not very good. The bread app I got was so hard you could barely bite into it. My hubby said it was the worst Calamari he'd ever gotten at WDW. The restaurant was pretty and our server was a sweetheart but we would not eat here again. We chose 50's Prime Time for dinner this time too. Your group would have a good time there!

We have never eaten at MM but we always go to 50's PT every trip. You can't beat the atmosphere and the banter is great!!

50's PT. We ate at MM last October and hated it! The food was cold and dry. But I'm sure you'll gets lots of different opinions on each place! I like to read them but always just try them out for myself.

The food was great at both ... 50s is more "home cooked meals" and awesome desserts. It is a lot of fun. We had a party of 8 and were all seated together. There was another large group (maybe 10) seated by us -- in the same section, but they had two separate tables. Their group got into a lot of "trouble" and it was really funny.

We had great food at MamaMelrose too, but our dinner took almost 2 hours. The service was a little slow. Mostly Italian fare -- great, but we were missing the bread.

We're going to Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic package this Friday night, and now I'm scared after reading all the people that didn't like it. I did read over the menu, and it sounded good to me.

We've done both, love both, but lately we've been foregoing 50's PT and going to MM.

Also been to both and love both. Personally with your group size and ages, I think 50's would be better. I think everyone will have a great time with the servers. Downside is your group might be divided into different areas where you won't really see each other.

I wasn't impressed with Primetime. The meatloaf was dry and didn't have any taste. The seating is so close together I thought I was eating from my neighbor's table. The only thing we liked was the waiter, he was funny.
MM was great we have eaten there 3 times and each time was great and we will be going back in the future.

We like 50 PT. We plan on eating dinner at 50 PT and then attending the 9:30 late show of Fantasmic. The 2nd show is less crowded than the 1st show.

I'm going to say 50's as well! The food at Mama Melrose I liked very much, but the banter at 50's Prime Time is just so fun, the whole atmosphere is great. I also love the food there, too, I think I like it better!

Never ate at 50's but we will soon. As for MM we really disliked it. It made DH sick. I think is is the only place in wdw he refuses to go.

Prime Time - I love the pot roast, it's just so yummy!

I liked Mama Melrose, but not something I would really do again b/c it took an increadibly long time to get dinner. My sister ordered a steak, after a long wait they came out and asked her if they could butterfly her filet so it would cook faster, she said no. When our dinner finally arrived her filet was butterflied anyways, they said they had to do it to get it to cook faster. We weren't going to argue though b/c we had already been there for over an hour and a half and were just getting our entrees.

im trying MM when i go in august. I HATED 50s prime time ...but that was quite some time ago....and i mean years ( 16 yrs ago to be exact....) so maybe things have changed .... but the banter from the waitstaff and people getting in "trouble" is what people love about it and i hated it...and i hated the food... i ate about 4 bites and wanted to leave...so my opinion is probably to the extreme end of avoid that place at all costs haha..but thats just what it is an opinion. whichever you choose i hope you enjoy it!
