Mama Melrose or 50's prime time cafe

Looking for a choice on our DHS day on our next trip. We have eaten at 50's PTC 4-5 times and do enjoy it but are looking maybe to try something else. We hae been to brown derby and just decided to try something else and narrowed down to these 2. I am all about trying mama melrose but have seen and heard it getting some bad reviews.....Help us decide

We swapped from 50's PT about 5 years ago because we felt it was going downhill and now go to Mama Melrose's instead. We LOVE MM! The food has always been very good. They are also quite accommodating about making changes to the food as DD prefers not to eat meat, or to let her order from the kids menu even though she is obviously not "kid's menu age." We haven't been for about 18 months, so any changes might be recent, but we have always been very satisfied with our meals at Mama's.

Of course, just the other night DD was saying how next time we go to WDW, she'd like to go back to 50'sPT as it's been so long since we've been there

Although I like the theme of 50's best, the food is much better at Mama Melrose's. So I guess it depends on what type of experience you are looking for.

I like Prime Time better, but if you haven't tried it, I'd go for Mama Melrose's. Every restaurant has bad reviews. For me, that just sets my expectations low and makes me easier to impress. Just check the menu before hand and make sure everyone would be happy with it.

I'd try Mama Melrose just to say I'd been there. But other than that there isn't much to recommend it over the 50's. 50's has much better theming and food in our opinion. MM food isn't bad, it just isn't good if you know what I mean. Like a very overpriced Olive Garden without salad and breadsticks.

Oh My! Was afraid of this. All I'd seen in pics or had read on it made it sound outstanding. Too bad.

We did both and loved both on our December trip.

When we first went to MM on our Sept. 2008 trip we were guardidly optimistic...it was getting alot of bad reviews at the time...but we decided to keep our ADR and do it anyhow. We are so glad we kept it in our line-up..the server, Ken was awesome--he is now is Ft Lauderdale (I think they said in December). The food was great. Atmosphere great.

December, 2009 trip was no different. Food was awesome, presentation was excellent, service was quick and pleasant. And there was alot of it.

DF proposed on the last day of the trip in HS..we decided to celebrate we would try to get into PT...even though we didn't have an ADR. They got us right in as soon as the place opened up and we had an excellent time. Ken was our server there too (hmmm maybe just something about the name ken=good service). The kids had a blast..they got in so much trouble..we loved it!

Either place, I don't think you'll go wrong!

We did both on our January trip (and have been to each one other time, but on separate trips). The food was good at both, but 50's Prime Time is so much more fun. MM was like any chain Italian restaurant, while Prime Time is the place my kids always remember when talking about our trip. If you want a fairly quiet meal (it's actually kind of noisy, but it's just a meal), MM is a good place. If you want a fun, memorable meal, PT is a great choice.

We like them both; and have never had a "bad" experience at either, although our last PTC wasn't in character at all, so kind of a "meh" experience there. DD prefers MM's, but that's probably because she's a pasta fiend LOL.

We did both last trip as well. We are fans of 50's and always do it. I did think the food at 50's was not as good this time, but we had a terrible experience at MM, terrible service and not very good food so we will not be going back there.

We've had dinner 2x at MM and had good experiences there. My kids really like 50s because of the atmosphere.

SO on our last two trips, we went to 50s because the kids really wanted to go there. On our upcoming trip, we're doing MM because I decided that it's time to listen to him.

I think both are fine places for lunch, so if you want a change, swap them out this time.
