Is this a good place to eat?

I'm trying to pick a TS dinner for MGM and this is the one that's popping out at me.

What's a good kid friendly recommendation? I was thinking Hollywood & Vine, Play n Dine but I really want to do a TS dinner this day when we head back to the park.

My family LOVED Mama Melrose! It is not too fancy and almost everybody can find something they like. The portions are large too! When my family went there, there were lots of kids there!I definetly think you can take kids there.

We tried for many trips to get into MM because the food always smells so good. We went in Dec 06 and we were very disappointed...the food was served room temp, was very bland and not cooked thoroughly. Would never go back here again.

What resort are you staying at? Maybe you can eat a nice TS place there before heading over to MGM...the only TS place we will eat at is 50's Prime Time..the rest are just blech!

we love it. I had the flatbread pizza which was really good. I loved the eggplant dish. DH had a dish with sausage in it, he really didnt care for it.
The tiramasu was very good.

We did the Fantasmic Dinner Package at Mama Melrose in March of '07. We enjoyed it so much we plan to go again in March '08. MGM is probably our second favorite park (after MK) and we were pleased to find this place. In March '06 we did Sci-Fi Diner and didn't really care for it.
Good Luck!

Mama Melrose is great! Great atmosphere and flatbreads. I wouldn't eat anywhere else at MGM. I wasnt too happy with Sci Fi or 50s Prime Time, but I've never had any problem at Mama Melrose.

We liked it last year and will be returning there on Tuesday for the Fantasmic package. I'm hoping it's as good this year as it was last year.

I thought it was AWFUL. The food was cold, and tasted just like a frozen dinner, the flatbread was not edible, the service was OK (after i had asked to be moved from a table that was placed in an aisle). Very Slow Service!! Way below the standards i would expect for Disney.

We are staying at POR :cutie:
I'm really bummed about the mixed reviews! I'll have to do some more thinking.
This is where I booked yesterday for the first night as we'd be heading to MGM. We could possibly eat before we went, it's always an option.

What exactly is the Fantasmic dinner package? Please explain. :wizard:

 Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm going to have to ut some more thought out here. It sounds like a place you either love or hate!

Thank you everyone for sharing.:cutie:

I often wonder how each person can have such different experiences. Do restaurants have "BAD HAIR" days?

Anyway ... we had a good meal and excellent service at MM. Can't remember what our appetizers were but my flatbread and DH's eggplant dish was good. I was too full to even touch dessert. We are planning to go there again in 2008. :thumbsup2

Although restaraunts probably have good days and bad days I think its more what people prefer. My DH will eat anything but I am very plain. We are going to V&A's in august for our 10th anniversary. He will love it all...I am sure I will not. Our friends go to MM every year (since I can remember) and love it. I am trying it this year on their advice. Here is hoping.

Do they serve you free bread? I'm just wondering if I should plan for an appetizer or not. Thanks!

The food was really good at MM's last month, but the service was slow and not good at all. There was no free bread.

Well they DID (as, IMO, all good restaurants should - particularly ITALIAN restaurants!), but I have read that they no longer do. As bigbabyblues said and I have read, if you want bread, you have to ask for it and are charged for it. :(
