Mama Melrose Changed Menu

A few months ago I had read here that Mama Melrose was going to change their menu soon. I may have missed it, but I never saw anything saying it had officially changed. We went there Thursday night and saw that it is changed. We were told it happened 3 weeks ago.
We were disappointed in the changes, but thats just because what they offer now wasnt to our liking. In fact last year my mother said her best meal of the trip was at MM, and this year she didnt like it at all. Other people may be very happy with the changes though.

I've never been to Mama Melrose's but we were planning a visit in December. Could you let us know what, in particular, you were unhappy with? I've looked at the menu on Deb's site and I believe it's still the old one.

What alternate MGM restaurant would you choose?

I'd be interested too. What was it they changed that you liked before or don't like now? How does it now compare to the other restaurants in MGM? We were considering eating there for a change next week... just becuase we've never been there before.

I had previously(4 times) gotten the 4 cheese pizza. I have also tried the Orcchiette pasta dish which was with broccoli & chicken in a white sauce and the rib eye.
This time I planned to get the Orecchiette dish and when I checked the menu it was very different. Its now "Orecchiette Pasta with chicken, artichokes, pancetta, roasted red peppers, garlic, peas, & tomato broth".
My mothers favorite dish from last year was the rib eye with peppers & onions and pasta. Hoping it would be similar, she got the new "Grilled Filet of Beef with capellini alla genovese, goronzola butter and red wine reduction". It didnt have a good flavor to it at all, and the pasta was mixed with the steak juice so the flavor was on there too. Had it been good, it was very small.
Also, the bread they give you to start was a potato and chive bread, which wasnt very good. We all would have been much happier with just plain bread or rolls.

I think they are trying to make it more fancy. We dont really care for fancy/gourmet food and thats why we liked Mama Melrose so much. I probably would go there again, but only for the Fantasmic Dinner package and we would probably all stick to the pizza. I will say my pizza and the kids pizza were very good.

As for comparing it to the other MGM restaurants, we have never been to any because we really liked MM so much.

We did not like the new bread as much as the old either. That change was already in place when we were there in June.

CamColt...do you remember if the pepperoni and peppers pizza was still on the menu? How about the simple green salad with goat cheese? Two of our favorites there for lunch. Thank you!

Yes, there is a Grilled Pepperoni with Bell Peppers and Sweet Onions Flatbread listed on the menu. There is also a Field Greens with Balsamic Vinaigrette and Gorgonzola Cheese.
