Mama Melrose at MGM

My friend and I took a day trip to MGM this past Friday - we originally had ps ressies for Brown Derby...but we ate a larger lunch than we'd planned and didn't feel like anything on Brown Derby's menu. (plus we were dropping money like crazy)
We went to guest relations and decided to go to Mama Melrose.
It had never really appealed to me, I don't know why, being I am an Italian food LOVER.
IT WAS GREAT.
We split the following meal:
*Ceasar Salad - the dressing is one of the best I have ever had.
*Caprino Cheese appetizer - My friend didn't realize this was goat cheese (caprino) so I ate the whole thing! It was soooo good.
*Penne Alla Vodka, excellent.
The service was excellent as well.
I am so happy my DH and I have season passes...I told him I'd drive there just to eat at this restaurant from Tampa.

If you like Italian food, try this, you will NOT be disappointed.

We've overlooked this, too. (I think because I ate there about 7 years ago with friends and must have been the last people served that day. The meal was out in 8 minutes and seemed like everything had just been warmed up.) Last month we had an excellent lunch and want to go back. It was a real unexpected surprise.

We too are big fans of Mama Melrose. We have eaten there once on each of our last 7 trips and plan to go back again in July. Cant wait!

We ate here once with our keys to the kingdom tour (the long one?). Probably wouldn't have thought to choose it on our own. The food was fabulous! They served us a lot of variety since we were a big group. Sampled lots of things, all wonderful. Planning to go on our next trip next month.

So glad you posted this! We have made our PSs, this being one of them, and I have been reading so many negative posts about our choices. (Actually, I almost didn't open this thread because I thought it might be another complaint!) We can't wait to try it. Our DS 14 is a real pizza lover-do they offer pizza and have you ever tried it at Mama Melrose?

We love Mama Melrose. Great service and food. It is a must do for us for lunch and we often do it more than once in a trip. Never miss it!! Ask for Dori or Kevin for exceptional service.

Yes, pizza is on the menu and we love it. The pepperoni and pepper pizza has thickly cut slices of a nicely spiced pepperoni...different for us but very tasty. My family has tried different pizza over the years and enjoyed them all.

Does anyone that has dined at Mama Melrose know if you can just get a bowl of pasta? There are those in my group that would rather have that than some of the fancier dishes that are on the menu.

Any info would be apprecaited.....

Yes, although it is not listed on the menu you can always order just plain old spaghetti.

Another thing I forgot to mention...
I have walked by this restaurant many times while at MGM, and never knew it was there! We were surprised how big it was inside. We both agreed that once inside, you don't even feel like you are at MGM anymore. It was like a different world, and it was great because it was crowded the day we went - which was the first day of Star Wars Days. The atmosphere was a welcome change from the heat and chaos outside.
I am still so happy we tried this, can't wait to go back!

Mama Melrose has always been one of our favorites at WDW, we try and eat there every trip. We'll be there in a little more than 1 month, can't wait!

I always love to see good reviews for Mama's! My family and I LOVE this restaurant and make it a must do every time we go to MGM. I know that tastes are different, but it always amazes me when I see bad reviews because we have never had a less than great meal here!

We recently had a great dinner here. The bread & salad were very good, the 4-cheese flat bread delicious, & we both had the chicken parmesan & loved it. We've always had great service here. A few years ago DW ordered some kind of sausage/pasta dish that she didn't care for. She only ate a few bites. When the server noticed this he offered to substitute another entree, but she decided not to. They took the meal off the bill! Nice, casual place to eat a good meal.
