Question for those of you that have been there...we are planning a trip for my daughters 6th birthday, since you get a free unlimited wristband on your birthday. My question is, we also have a 2-year-old. Do they have a certain age where kids get in free, like at Disney?

And yes, I looked on their website, and couldn't find anything.

We are going to Disney in September, so we are trying to do this Mall of America trip on a budget!

Any other advice about MoA would be appreciated too, its been awhile since we've been there!

You don't have to pay to get in. You buy tickets or a wristband to get on each individual ride. They have little ticket kiosks where you can purchase ticket lots.

We were just at MOA last weekend for my 2 nieces bdays. We took them to Build A Bear, then Rainforest Cafe, and then Nick Unv. It was fun!

If you think you may want to take your kids to Underwater World...don't pay full price. There are always people walking around level one passing out great coupons.

Like this poster said, you don't pay to get into the mall/Nick Univ. You only pay for the rides you want to go on.

Have a great time! MOA is really fun! :)

Right...I guess I worded my post wrong!

I know everyone gets in free, but is there a certain age where kids RIDE free? My younger DD is 2.

I'm guessing no? So the better thing to do for her would probably be buy individual points, rather than a wristband, for the few rides she is able to go one?

Is there even that much for that age group to ride?

Thanks! :)

The 2 year old will have to have her own ticket - you can get ones with varying numbers of points, or her own wristband. However, a few of the rides that are age appropriate for a 2 year old may require a chaperone, like the carousel. The chaperone will not have to pay points for those rides. There is no difference in the number of points required depending on your age. The kiddie rides require fewer points than the bigger rides though.

If you plan to go on rides longer than an hour or so, it is more advantageous to buy a wristband. You will probably also need at least a points ticket for mom and dad so that they can go on some rides with the kids too.

Edited to add: For a 2 year old, there's the baby roller coaster, Truckin, planes, froghopper, Diego's bus, balloons, train, race cars, carousel, ferris wheel, bouncy house (needs socks). There are also the little coin operated rides.

I agree with what the above posters said too. I REALLY have to reccomend the rainforest cafe too. Not only do you eat but it is an experience too. There are thunderstorms, gorillas moving, really cool fish tanks, and I have to go there every time we go to the mall. We always ask for a fish tank seat (which is right next to the tanks) and my son who is 12 STILL loves to watch the fish. There is a balloon man that comes around now too and for a dollar or more (however much you want to donate) he will make really good balloons. I just think it is an experience just eating there and worth the money. Now in the ride area it is gonna be REALLY busy, people walking all over, and if you see an empty seat grab it to rest for a second because those things are hard to come by. Lego land has an area where you can build legos for free. When I walk by there it is always full of little kids and parents either taking a break or getting in on the fun too. and it is for free and right off rides area.

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to June! :) I've been to MoA before, but not for probably, oh...at least 5 years. It will be a fun getaway.

Ginna74 - Rainforest Cafe is definitely a favorite of ours! We always have to go when we are visiting a city that has one, because it reminds me so much of Disney!

Any hotel recommendations?

Can't add a whole lot on the amusement park that hasn't been mentioned. We did just get home from Mpls today- extra tidbits-
Someone mentioned Underwater World, no need to find someone giving out coupons. They were all over the place in kiosks in the middle of the mall. (I know there was one in front of Dollar Tree. We saw otehrs, but specificially remember that.

6 year old girl having a birthday? Beware that the American Girl store opens right up into Nick Universe :)

And it's a two story store. ;)

We hit MOA at least once a month since it's a hop skip and a jump from my house. WE were actually there yesterday - did Rainforest, Underwater Adventures, and that's about it.

Anyway there is PLENTY for your 2 year old to do. I get each of my kids the 20 point wristband. Gets them each about 5 rides.

As far as hotel, we LOVE the Hilton off 34th. It overlooks Fort Snelling, a nature reserve, and it's just a great hotel. And CHEAP!! About $80/night. Great beds, the staff is fabulous, and we love the pool area, too.

We like to go, too, to the back of Fort Snelling. There is a BIG hill there. You climb to the top and it's flat. And it overlooks the runways at the airport. We pack a picnic and sit up there and watch the planes take off. Absolutely love it. *Did this yesterday, too!!*
