Friday the 29th of Febuary 2008

Arrived at Paris Beauvais Airport, which is Paris third and smallest Airport and boarded coach to Paris "Porte Maillot. From here it was a short trip on the Metro Line 1 over to Charles de Gaulle Etoile station. From here I followed the signs that say RER A, and boarded another train in direction of Marne Valley Chessy. Journey time takes aprox 2-3 hrs. I would never usually travel this way but unfortunately only one airline offers direct flights to Paris through my local airport, and that’s Paris Beauvais Airport.

Crowds on the trains were heavy but do start to thin out a bit once you start approaching the Resort. Arriving at the station Marne Valley Chessy I had two options either take the free shuttle to Sequoia Lodge or take the 5 minute walk into the Disney Village and around the lake. I choose the second option.

Check in was easy and I was handed my pack and the Cast Member explained all about the Extra Magic Hours and the St David’s Day Welsh Festival. Also for some unknown reason I was upgraded to a Suite. While also at reception I made reservations for the meal in the evening, which was buffet at Beaver Creek Tavern. By the way both restaurants at Sequoia Lodge are now full buffets.

My room/suite was located on the 6th floor over looking the lake and Village. You could also spot park icons like Sleeping Beauty Castle and Tower of Terror.

After grabbing my camera I headed back to the park. The New York Hotel had its ice skating rink out. This is a really nice feature that the Resort offers for the cold winter months. The Newport Bay Club looked fantastic the other side of the lake, except for the mould growing on the hotels roof. And it was a shame too as everything else up to that looked clean and well maintained.

Walking through the Village I noticed a lot of work being done on what I believe is new tree’s or something. Also I noticed a Welsh shopping village in the centre that is being used as part of the Resorts Welsh Festival to mark the Welsh holiday St David’s Day.

Part 2 coming soon.....

Wow lol i bet that was a nice surprise to be upgraded to a suite, i didnt even know they did them @ Sequoia Lodge, was is busy while you were there? i look forward to hearing more

How cool that you got upgraded :)

Yes there are planting new trees in the village and where the fencing is outside Cafe Mickey its because they are re-laying the pavement.

Look forward to day 2.

I woudl like to hear more about the Sequoia Lodge buffet. Like: what was on it?

Thanks, the hotel was full to capacity which is part of the reason why I think I got the upgrade. The other reason is that we requested a non smoking room and I do believe DLRP will try there absolute best to meet guest demands. Still it was a great treat and I have to thank Sequoia Lodge for the upgrade. This is now the second time I have stayed at this hotel and now the second time I have been given an upgrade.

How long did it take from Beauvais to DLRP?

It took me between 2-3 hours to get from Beauvais to DLRP. The Shuttle Bus takes about 1 hr and 15 mins. The Metro to Charles de Gaulle Etoile about another 5 minutes and finally about 50 minutes on the RER A. But you also have to take into account the transfer times. Not the most convinient way to travel but its fairly easy to do and cheap.

Thanks :thumbsup2
We got a private shuttle from CDG last september and it was not much more expensive than the VEA shauttle as we are a party of 4.
I am thinking of flying Ryanair this year as it goes from a closer aiport (and usually cheaper lol) but it goes to Beauvais and i know it is farer than CDG :confused3

You are lucky getting the upgrade:goodvibes . Lovely photos, I look forward to reading abou the rest of the trip:thumbsup2

Great photos. I'm looking forward to reading more of your report. We got an upgrade last time at Sequoia Lodge too - but not to a suite! - a room with an outside area that was as big as the room & with great views too. The journey from Beauvais sounds so long. Although we could fly Ryanair, I wouldn't fancy get to DLRP the way you did with 2 small kids in tow!

How lovely to get an upgrade and what a fabulous view from the room :thumbsup2
Look forward to the next installment.:goodvibes

I wouldn't recomend it with two young kids in tow either not unless you have to. Eurostar or flying into CDG are much better ideas. I only chose Beauvais because it was the only real option I had available.

By the way second part will be up tomorrow.

great photos and superb report. nice room too!:)

look forward to day 2.
