Malibu or Traverse?

I LOVE my Traverse. I traded my 2002 Saturn Vue for a 2010 Traverse. Admittedly, I miss the customer service of Saturn but I love that Traverse. It has so much room in it. I'm a cheapo. I got the base model, so I went on EBay and purchased a Flip down DVD player ($149) and had someone from American Furniture to put it in ($110). It's a 20 gallon tank, but it last for an entire week (full 7 days). It's about $66 a week right now ($3.79 a gallon).

I found a little trick on our Acadia. If you allow the pump to shut itself off at the gas station, it does not get the tank 100% full. In our area, we have those goofy flexible plastic shrouds around the nozzles. If you don't have those in your area, you can slowly squeeze in almost 3 extra gallons after the pump shuts itself off. I wouldn't bother for everyday driving. But, on vacation it means another 60 miles down the road before you have to stop again for gas. I always dump at least a 2.5 gallon can in ours before we head out on a long trip :)

We own an Acadia, the GMC version of the Traverse. It's a very nice car and works great for both road trips and regular driving.

However, if gas mileage is a major concern, the 2013 Malibu ECO is a FANTASTIC vehicle. The quality surpasses Honda and Toyota, and while it is slightly more expensive than an Accord or Camry, the MPG is significantly improved. I'd definitely consider it. :)

We own a 2011 Traverse, and I absolutely love it! I love the way it drives, the power it has, and how comfortable it is to ride in. The only drawback it really has is that eats gas! I am surprised at how good people state their gas mileage is because I don't get any where near what other people are getting. I usually average 16 mpg! If we drive on a flat highway I will average 21mpg, but since we live where it is hilly that rarely happens. Otherwise, I cannot say enough good things about the Traverse. My mom has the Malibu and is always complaining about the MPG she gets with it:( I have driven her malibu and would take the Traverse over the malibu any day!

I wish they would figure out a way to improve the gas mileage on the Traverse! I have a Suburban and am getting a new car later this year. I would go for the Traverse but it doesn't get much better mileage than my Suburban. So I'm looking at the Equinox, even though it doesn't have the third row. With all the driving I do to get my three boys where they need to be, I need better than 18 mpg.

I'm another Traverse lover. We are a family of 5 and it is easy to get into and has pretty good leg room. We have the entertainment package and I love that there are separate radio controls in the back along with a power outlet. We pack a powerstrip for longer drives and my girls can plug in laptops, chargers, whatever. The trunk space is definitely lacking. I bought some pool noodles the other day and had to put a seat down to fit them into the car. For a long excursion to WDW. I will be getting a rooftop carrier.

One thing nicer about the Traverse/Acadia is that all the seats fold down FLAT, unlike the Tahoe where the 3rd row has to come out to get a flat floor. I have folded the rear & center seats in ours, slapped a twin-size matress down there, and camped out of the car a couple of times :lmao:

I have a fully load 2008 Buick enclave and I love.I will have this car until it dies.gas millage is about 20 miles to the gallon
